Rant About Freaking Popup Ads/adware Beware- I'm Mad

[r]I POSTED HERE A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO HOW EVERY TIME I OPENED GOOGLE, 2 OR 3 POPUP ADS WOULD OPEN UP. IT WASN’T REALLY THAT BIG OF A PROBLEM… JUST A MILD ANNOYANCE. BUT NOW THESE **** ADWARE COMPANIES HAVE CROSSED THE LINE. I AM NO LONGER ABLE TO USE INTERNET EXPLORER (MY MAIN BROWSER). THESE INCOMPETANT FOOLS THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO MAKE A STUPID ADWARE PROGRAM THAT OPENS THEIR POPUP WINDOW WHENEVER YOU GOTO A NEW PAGE IN INTERNET EXPLORER. BUT THESE IDIOTS HAVE A SCRIPT ERROR IN THEIR PAGE AS WELL, SO ANOTHER BOX POPS UP. AND THEN THEY HAVE A SCRIPT IN THEIR PAGE TO OPEN THE SAME PAGE AGAIN WHICH BRINGS UP THE SAME ERROR AND PROCEEDS TO OPEN ANOTHER PAGE, REAPEATING THE PROCESS. IF I KNEW HOW, I WOULD DEFINITELY HACK INTO THEIR SYSTEM AND MAKE THEIR PROCESSORS OVERLOAD AND MAKE THEIR COMPUTERS BLOW UP IN THEIR FACE. JUST THE THOUGHT OF THAT RELIEVES JUST A LITTLE BIT OF MY ANGER, BUT NOT MUCH. WHAT GOOD DOES IT DO THEM TO “ADVERTISE” BY MAKING YOUR BROWSER DISFUNCTIONAL. IT DEFEATS THE PURPOSE BECAUSE YOU COULDNT EVEN GO TO THEIR SITE IF YOU WANTED TO!

THESE ARE THE TYPE OF PEOPLE THAT I WISH WERE OUTSPEAKING CAPITALISTS UNDER STALIN!

btw, ad-aware, spy bot, AVG, Window Washer, and Cleaning out my registry doesn’t fix it. I will be spending all day tomorrow backing up my files and reinstalling windows. these people drive me to INSANITY!

sorry to hear it man that sux…spybot S&D works for me.

:stuck_out_tongue: not screaming at you, screaming with you :stuck_out_tongue: lol

found a way around it- sort of, it’s going to be a pain in the aZ$ tho to keep doing this, i have to open up my computer then it still pops up so i have to kill the IE task and then i can go places so long as i don’t open a new window :stuck_out_tongue:

btw, thanks ahmed (-:

you could always try doing a system restore to a date when your computer was working fine…you should try doing that before reformatting at least

nah- if i’m going to reinstall stuff, i’m going to be sure everything is gone

adware sucks!
You should get a adware remover
try getting one here

Be forewarned - Gator has changed it’s name to Claria

If you’re like me, you hate Gator as much as I do … so be on the lookout for this new Claria deal.

Oh, and KaZaA, if you ask me, is the WORST form of ad/spyware out there today…

shut off windows messenger. Its a useless service. It should block most of them.

•Click Start, and then click Control Panel (or point to Settings, and then click Control Panel).

•Double-click Administrative Tools. Double-click Services. Double-click Messenger.
In the Startup type list, click Disabled. Click Stop, and then click OK.

Have you tried the Google Tool Bar for your browser? It includes a pop up blocker which you can turn on and off. It works very well. If that isn’t what you are looking for, try a virus protection program with spyware and privacy protection.

The thing about the Google toolbar is that it only works if the PAGE has a script to load a pop-up. If there’s any type of adware or anything on your computer, you’ll still get pop-up windows.

When I used Kazaa I’d get pop-ups still, so I think much the same would happen with other adware.

Just my thoughts…

for some more advanced issues, try Spybot’s Search & Destroy.
I use it at work for all my goofball clients who download all day :sigh:
It’s a great app, highly recommended. –

ouch! That’d make me learn to be hacker…

I use Mozilla anyway… with a built-in popup blocker

Rgr that BadMagick! Doh! Guess I didn’t read Yeldarb’s rant very closely. A clean hard drive wipe & reinstall maybe his best option.

Right here bro.

Most of the popups that he is getting are caused by the local software controlling which pop-ups to load. They usually exploit the windows messaging feature that by default is turned on. It was designed as a means for system admins to eaily send data/messages/software to machines installed on the network. Its not worth poo for most home machines.

By disabling the service you are not allowing the software that is local to the machine to go and retreive the specified pop-ups. rednering it harmless.

Rgr that fest.

hey bro,

what does rgr mean?

Its a real hot button for most of the mods here.
