I’m 5 … no, 8 … er, did I mention I’m 7? … and I do okay too. But there’s no substitute for experience. Someday I’ll get me some.

“Age is no singular indication of wisdom OR success …”

I looked at your profile, are you really a high school principal 007?

I don’y know It doesn’t seem like a joke

Yes … yes I am.

My age is deceiving. :stuck_out_tongue:

Dex

How old are u then?

Dan if you are looking for a hitman, call me. I was just discussing the other day how being an assassin would be my ideal occupation. I know it sounds kind of twisted but I have much pent up aggression, and a desire to rid the world of stupid people. So I figured I could put it to good use and make some money while I’m at it. Get a pool together and whatever we raise I will take for finding the head of this company and finding various ways to torture him.

You guys missed my point. Nevermind. It was of trivial mush anyway.

I’m 5+3+6+10+1+8+2

:rambo:

Wow thats pretty strait forward…
lol but i cant help to laugh, because they have no idea what Design is =)

Yes tools are getting easier, but creativity is what people pay for. anyone can learn photoshop, but not everyone is creative and good at it.

Like my friend, he knows PS in and out, i mean wow, alot better than i know it. However, he cant design worth crap! And he knows it, but hes also a kick ass programmer lol so it ballances out.

And if they want a quick cheap web developers, then they’ll get quick cheap designs =)

What Ray said.

I saw a job opportunity the other day:

7 years IT
5 years Web

then went on to say 4 yr degree, etc.

think about what was going on in 1995… Windows 3.1 for workgroups, Novel networks… then think about whas going on in 1997… Netscape was huge, Photoshop was not released for PC, Flash didn’t really have AS to speak of…

I applied, didn’t even get a response… =)

tough requirements…

What a crazy world we have made for our selves:(
A guy i know who has no flash experance just got a job a a flash designer for a company. This really makes me made. I also think he used some of my portfoilo work. I think his knee caps are about to be introduced to my louisville slugger:evil:

Like how did this loser get a job with no tranning, no degrees, and no portfolio.

a lot of it is location…

I just happen to live in the remains of the bubble… :stuck_out_tongue:

most of the crap designers have left town, so the competition is really steep. :-\

But then again, there are a lot more opportunities here, so a good designer can make ends meet. =)

…most of the time :stuck_out_tongue:

Rev:elderly:

i gave up looking for work, and just started doing what i love to do with Flash. funny thing is i now have 7 freelance projects going, all but one from people i never knew emailing me asking if i could do a project for them.

I’m not really bothered by it because as it was said before. They will get what they pay for. If they seriously think that these skills can be taught in a weekend then they should just teach themselves and not pay anyone extra to do it. But also, they may just be looking for minor things. I learned how to make awesome motion tweens and stuff in a weekend, and I navigate around photoshop in a week or so. The basics to these programs don’t take a lot of time, but the more complicated things take a lifetime to learn.

Another reason this doesn’t bother me. I am not a web designer. I am an archaeologist (or at least I will be) studying native american tribes in the South West US, Mexico and Latin American areas. I will not really need to worry about what web developers are getting paid or whether or not they are being mistreated. I agree that they should get more respect but this argument does not really pertain to me. I will probably continue to be interested in web design as a hobby and maybe a side project, however it will not be the main staple of my income…

I wish. Ive been trying to find contract work but it just aint happening. I can even do it cheaper for a US company due to the exchange rate but still no takers.:frowning:

If I knew that today the computer industry would be where its at, i would have gotten my degree in computer science 12 years ago!!

However, i would have been 8 and a genius…

But its ok because now im a genius. =) hehe jk

You lucky Jubba. You have another carrier in mind. I was ready and accepted to take law but then I realized it wasn’t what I wanted to do. This is all I know. This what i love and it is what I want to do for a living. The problem is attitudes like theres brin sown the proffesion. U should get into more web design because u are very talanted at it:)

Sintax,

you should check out this site

http://www.creativemoonlighter.com

Its like a web disigner ebay.

I see alot of foreign (outside USA) projects get jobbed out to other countries

just an FYI

Thanks man. I’ll check it out. Mabye I’ll get lucky:) :-\

Do you think this place is on the up and up. It seems you have to pay the few to be able to bid on anything. Every thing has 10+ bids. Huh would it be worth paying the fee. Just getting one job would be more than worth it.:-\
