Recommend a pair of studio monitor headphones?

Headphones cause they are cheapter than speakers :frowning:

So what good studio monitors have you used? I really want a nice pair under $200 USD that articulates everything, as flat as possible. I’ll be using it at home, so open air / heavy / big isn’t a problem. Reviews much appreciated :sen:

//edit - And circumaural if possible  I like comfortable headphones.

Anyone? :frowning:

i can ask a few people. it will take time though. lol

noise cancelling? :stuck_out_tongue:

Doesn’t matter about noise cancelling since I’m indoors. I’m asking for music production headphones

love police, that would be awesome. I got time

Yeah I got some mates into sound engineering- i’ll ask them too

My friend’s headphones I have borrowed are studio monitors. Sony MDR-V250’s. Stereo Dynamic. It’s good but not something like a Technics or Sennheiser

I am certainly no audiophile, but I have a pair of Audio-technica ATH-M30’s that I like quite a bit (my dad is an Audio-technica dealer, so I got them for cheap). I have used them for a couple of years and I have always been very pleased with the sound quality.

I am sure there are better headphones out there, but it looks like they can be had for not too much $$:

I’ve actually got a couple of bucks from recent work that I can afford a Sennheiser. The Sennheiser HD 580 seems pretty awfully sweet, but I want to actually listen to them first. I can’t find a pro-audio shop in Vancouver Canada at all O.o.

So I can only look at reviews. Thanks for the info so far!

Sennheiser is the first thing that pops into my head…

[ot]Aww… pro audio shops with soundproof equipment testing rooms and suchlike pwn :stuck_out_tongue: Weird how we’ve got them here, but you can’t find one in Canadialand…[/ot]

I use a set of these, they are probably gonna be the most realistic sound for the dollar, and their comfy: http://www.zzounds.com/item--AKGK271STUDIO

Nice.

Those look pretty sweet Defective. I’ll look for some reviews.

// sweet sweet sweet, the music store here actually has those headphones. I’ll head on and try those out

//edit2 - a lot of reviews say that I’d need a headphone amp. If i’m sticking it into the headphone jack in a PC, would I still need one? The PC would be powerful enough to power it right?

Yeah, their not really consumer level, they are more of a low-range studio headphone. I used to do alot of audio production and composition, these are great for actually hearing the true sound, not the “extra-bass-extreme” version you usually get with consumer gimmick headphones.
