I’m still bored so i startin a new thread, i did a search for threads on rpg’s didn’t see any so i apologise if there already one. I was just wondering how many of you play rpgs like final fantasy, zelda, diablo 2 etc etc… and what games you think are the best of that genre , i always open to a new rpg to play
I like Zelda - though I am not sure it qualifies as a full RPG. As one of my friends pointed out earlier at school, in Zelda you pretty much know what the character is like. It’s more of an action-strategy - I may be wrong though
i’ve been playing Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind for the last 4 days straight. i mean, no sleep, just toast and jam kinda food cuz its easy. hahah. i just got it and its sooooooooooooooooooooooo cool. anyone into rpgs really who hasnt tried it should. its amazing. PLUS, you can take off all your clothes and run around and ppl will either make comments to you about how you should “have some decency” or the guys will check you out and be nice to you and stuff… hahahah. dude, but seriously, you need to try this, it is so awesome, my charachter right now is a battlemage, and i just kicked this whole mob of evil dwearen specters and captured all thier souls (hard stuff) so i decided to celebrate by taking a few days off and diving for pearls and sunken treasure… man, i gotta get back 2 the game.
anyways, aside from this game, by absulUTE FAVORITE is baldur’s gate 1 & 2. with the diablos coming up soon after. this is so random, cuz i was totally gonna start a thread about rpgs. haha. but you did it first.
if you wanna know more about morrowind, tell me, and ill tell you, but i didnt wanan bore you with too much.
Best game series ever, hands down… Diablo 1 & 2. Diablo 1 revolutionized gaming with the FREE online playing service. don’t know if you’ve heard of it, battle.net.
Diablo 2 is just the best game ever. You can play a character for hundreds of hours and it never gets boring. Few game can pull that off.
Morrowind is pretty good as well. Only problem w/ it is it’s kinda tedious. When you have to walk across the entire map 4 or 5 times just for one little quest, it gets kinda annoying. Other than that, it’s very fun. I love killing an entire city :). :trout: TAKE THAT VIVEC.

you dotn have to do that, there are spells called mark and recall, that you can cast, and it’s like, “boom” insta travel. they are cheap and easy too. just cast mark to mark spot, and whenever you wanan go back there, cast recall. :beam:
That works, but there are many quests where you go to 5 different spots, each 15 miles out of the way, and you CAN NOT FIND THEM. Even with gamefaq.com. I just didn’t like having to spend 2 hours walking around trying to find something. Even though I’d occaisonally stumble across a place where there’d be uber items :).
Morrowind looks great and all , but it’s too involved, i mean that game is sooo huge, i played it one day started in the morning and when i looked outside it was dark and then i realised i had played the game for a whole day ! :!: I mean the graphics are awesome and the gameplay is so involved but seriously who has this much time? ummm… i’ll be right back get Morrowind cd out and quietly says “my precious”…

hahahahha. :beam:
ya know, honestly, it IS huge, and it IS vast, and it DOES require a lot of time to play. which is exactly why i am dropping out of school, quitting my job, and becoming a professional game addict as of two days ago.
heheheh. jk
I used to play diablo 2 all the time but for some reason i stopped and never went back. Baldurs gate 1 & 2 are classic games, i really enjoyed neverwinter nights to, that got some nice multiplayer options with the game builer.
I am tempted to try morrow wind it does look quite good, has it got ne online attributes? like teaming up etc ??
lunar, morrowind = TOTALLY AWESOME.
no mutiplayer support though. but honestly, you don’t need it cuz you could play this game for 2 years straight and never run out of stuff to do. and if you decide that you are done, there is a new addon, and also you can make your own stuff up. here are some screen shots. they are big. so be prepared.
lol, i knew that 1/2 naked cyber chick would snare ya in. heehee. anywhoo, it’s good old click and slash to fight. these are the basic controls…
walk forward - W
walk back - S
walk right - D
walk left - A
shift - run
caps lock - lock run
tab - toggle veiws: you can play in 1st person veiw, that’s hwo they claim it should be played, but i prefer 3rd person except when doing certain things like arranging items or swimming, but i almost ALWAYS fight in 3rd person, cuz when 3 peeps are attacking you at once, i think it’s easier to see who’s coming from where
and then you steer with your mouse.
spacebar - interact with stuff (talk to ppl, open stuff, pick up stuff, etc.)
right click brings up your menus, left click does stuff like attack stuff, pick locks, disarm traps, cast spells etc.
it’s pretty easy to get used to the controls. i like it very much, and i’m real picky about controls, like i picked up wizardry, which is supposed to be a good game, but i couldn’t get into it cuz the controls stunk.
p.s. if you do wind up getting it, remind me to tell you about a few hard to find secret awesome places. :beam:
Ye well i’ll probably get it so i can play it on sunday :D, i need a good rpg to sink my teeth into lol. Then i’ll spend hours choosing my character and thinkng of a cool!!! name lol
I’m opting for the Final Fantasy series too. Not just games that are beautiful to look at and intuitive to play, but that have deep storylines and well thought out characters.
I am a huge RPG fan, have been ever since I played the first American FF (LIT4 Rocked ) I am always looking for new games to play… Some of the ones I have played are…
Japanese Numbers in brackets…
FF I (NES)
FF II (SNES) [FF IV Playstation]
FF III (SNES) [FF VI Playstation]
FF V (Playstation)
FF VII (Playstation)
FF VIII (Playstation)
FF IX (Playstation)
FF Tactics (Playstation) Sweet Game!
I am gonna buy the first two Japanese FF’s this friday for the Playstation. Can’t Wait!
Lunar Silver Star Story (Sega CD, Playstation) The SegaCD version is much better…
Lunar 2 Eternal Blue (Playstation) I am still looking for the Sega CD version if anyone knows where to find it PM me.
Vay (Sega CD)
Chrono Trigger (SNES)
Secret of Mana (SNES)
Chrono Cross (Playstation)
Magic Knight Rayearth (Super Famicom Emulator) This game sent me to my Kanji Dictionary several times.
Star Ocean 1+2 (Playstation) I didn’t care for these much.
Arc the Lad (Playstation) Have yet to play this one, but it looks cool.
There is a game for the Playstation the I have played, but I can not for the life of me recall its title. Its where you fight mist creatures, and its kind of a martial arts RPG… I didn’t like that one much either.
So if anyone knows of cool RPGs that aren’t on my list let me know, I always love to try new things… =)
ok, SOMEBODY SMACK ME
i’m outta control
i’ve taken this morrowind thing to a whole new level.
my winamp playlist is now composed of the mp3 tracks from the game…
do i need a straightjacket? or is it normal to get this into a game…
