Look — skipping the extra hub is nice, but it also means your TV just became part of your home’s infrastructure whether you meant it to or not. I’d still want a clear way to see what’s acting as the Thread border router and how fast Samsung pushes security updates when something in that stack gets popped.
The “TV as border router” part that gets me is uptime/latency, not just security. TVs reboot for updates, crash, or get turned off at the wall.
