Secret in Siberia (WIP)

I say those doors need some bullet proof glass. Maybe even some blood stains on them from people who tried soulty’s prison break.

cool doors coppertop… he he , I like the way the light is skirting out from underneath… looks cool, alltho I think soulty may be right about the size of the items adorning the doors… maybe just thinning them up a little, they seem really beefy, but then again, that may be the effect you want sort of “sureal-animated-” but in any case it is comming along great…

Your off to a good start dude. Good job. Keep it up and keep us posted.

for your doors I would do a smooth shift just a tad outside of the bars to make them look as if they are embedded or attached to the door. That is unless we wil never see the doors up close. But right now the doors dont look convincing. Also I am not sure if Darktree makes shaders for c4d but it would be cool to look into. I used the shaders for a prison scene I did a while back and it was awesome I think the url is www.darksim.com

Once again, thank you all - this project probably wouldn’t move along as much if it weren’t for it

You guys are right, the bars do look a little to… out, and the handle a little too beefy.

gp - if you’ve played the siberia levels for NOLF2, you’ll know what I’m effect I’m trying to achive. Again, it’s more of a research lab than a prison. It has the feel of the Return to castle wolfenstein, except not quite as creepy, but still fairly “looming”.

lantern - actually, there is some glass material there, but I think I need to modify it a bit. As for blood, I think that would make a nice touch, to give the impression that it’s even worse than it seems

Yeldarb - Haha, glad you like it, it was a complete accident. I just rotated the doors to lie flat where I modeled them, and rendered with all the lights in use on. It was ment to be quick, but if you like it, all the better!

Once again, thanks everyone! I do accept and consider all comments, critique, and suggestions.

another shot of the doors (I love them .)and below that is an over all shot. I added some spot lights.

Updates are going to be a little behind while I replay the mission from NOLF 2 I mentioned and take screenshots for reference and ideas.

image 1 is very slick… I like the rays… what is the volumetric thing happening on the ceiling inside the doorway, almost as if there should be a pair of lamps hanging there…?
gp

oh yeah. I knew I forgot something.

will the doors be seen up close? You have added enough detail to suggest it will, yet not enough detail to make the image convincing.

Nice work on those doors.

Although, I am beginning to wonder where all that light is coming from. What is in that building?

A huge lighting bulb (it’s a secret government project, hence the fortress).

Nice job man, you’re doing really good :thumb:

Alright, I played through the Siberia level once again, screenshotting my way through it. Contained in the link below are two downloads. If you want to see the screen shots I’ll be using as references, then choose the “NOLF 2 Screenshots”

Model update coming soonish. (Probably tomorrow)

DDD: I think I see what you mean. Luckily, I have a few ideas.

D’0h!.. :h:
gp

problem solved. I now have a lamp. And some stairs. and I recessed the door. and I added (simple) hinges. and my grammar sucks…

on a seperate note, I’m looking to add a chimney or two somewhere, I just can’t be certain where. I’ll think of something. There is still alot of detail lacking on the building its self. It could use some windows I suppose.

now that’s sweet… very moody. dig the shows, that is what makes a scene
and gives it depth…
as far as the details… choose them wisely… and the windows…
don’t just throw in square windows… think about what the windows here would look like take the time…
gp

That is cool, but I think it looks to stiff. How about some rust, cracks, or maybe some paint?

Actually, I gave it a breif moment of thought, then decided that square windows are the best (mind you, they didn’t seem to reflect during that shot :h: no idea why) And would you guess what my reference for the doors are?

the doors in my school  seriously, they’re all exactly like that without the bars though. I feel the windows are fitting.

I also talked with a friendly art student for some advice on where to place the chimneys and a little colaberative thought on the look of them. They look good in my mind so far.

love it, went and played nolf 2 and you’ve got it down. i like the choice to make the narrow slits windows, i like it better than the spotlights that lightup those indents in the game. looking very nice

Are you going to texture these coppertop? Looking good so far.

sorry for the delay, I was without internet (dad got a new computer, and thus we had some internet/network problems.) anyway:

=guiness= : Thanks! I was thinking about the indents when I made the slits, but I couldn’t remember what exactly they were like, so that’s how the slits came to be

ironik: I will texture them, but that’s once I’ve finished the model. Not too much more I think.

FINALLY:

I am needing an opinion. I’ve added some chimneys, and a fan, and I was wondering what looked beter, with or without fan? (I added some volumetrics because I know you people like them ;))
