Ok, started a new robot today. I want to make something that’ll show off HDR maps a bit more than my last project. This is my work on the upper thigh so far… I’ll be working on the leg most of the day. It’ll eventually be a smaller scale robot than my last one… sort of a character more than a bulky machine.
Tell me know what you think so far (bearing in mind it has just been started today)
I’ve switched my focus onto developing my poor texturing skills. Hopefully if I can get my skills up I’ll be able to put something into a convincing scene… I want to make it look photo-realisitic, but not real… if that makes sense.

**How did you make that texture? **
I used a falloff-fresnel map in the reflection slot and a HDR lat/long map in the environment slot with spherical mapping. The material is a brazil test material.
how many Kilobyte or Megabytes is 3D Studio Max?
r3 is about 100-110 mb (on the CD)
r4 is about 142mb (on the CD)
r5 is about 570mb (on the CD)
They are all bigger after installation (well I assume 4 and 5 are bigger, I don’t have them).
Bryce 2 was one of the first 3D apps I ever bought… disappointing really. It doesn’t have much in the way of modelling tools, but you can make some pretty convincing landscapes.
