Site of the Week (August 6 - August 13)

If you wish to be considered for this week, please read the summary of rules:

 1. Reply by the end of August 13th to be considered for this week’s award.

 2. Include the URL and your email address.

Only the webmaster/creator of the site can submit.

Only one submission per person per week.

Submissions are capped at 10 each week, so don’t wait or hesitate until the last minute. Entries beyond the 10 entry limit will not be eligible for the SOTW for that particular week.

Include a brief synopsis of your site inluding its purpose, or maybe some features you wouldn’t want anyone to miss.

 1. Your site does not have to be full Flash to be eligible. Whilst you still must employ Flash to some extent, we are also looking for the overall design and usability of your site, not just your Flash skills.

 2. While it is understood that sites are perpetually under construction, please submit only complete sites. Do not submit a site that is less than 80% finished.

 3. Submissions must be actual websites with sections and content. Examples of ineligible include (but not limited to) flash games, movies, etc.

 4. There will be a private poll among the moderators and a winner will be announced.

 5. No critiques or feedback is allowed in the submission thread. If you wish a concentrated critique of your site, you may start a thread in Site Check. However, mod critiques will be posted when a winner has been selected.

For more information or questions, please refer to the Official SOTW Rules. Once you have read and understand the rules above, you may submit your site to this thread. Sites not adhering to the rules above will be disqualified and deleted. Submitting your site is an agreement and acceptance of the rules.

NARUTO! unofficial flash site.
email: email@ivankandi.com

Basically this is a final project for Flash 1 class, this took me 10 days to complete. The site is about this popular anime from Japan called Naruto, no detail information could be found there, only a brief information about some characters that I like most in the movie.

Advantages:

 1. Fresh and original ideas
 2. Unique transitions and animations.
 3. Unique On Off music
 4. Summoning text no jutsu! [a handseal, identic with the series]

I hope you guys can enjoy the site.

Best,

The newly launched site consists of two identical versions, one flash and the other xhtml/css. The site is built on a php backend so that the two versions can share information and content. The flash version consists of 100% scripted movement, transitions, styles, loading, etc to allow for code reuse and easy modifications. The xhtml version adheres to current W3C standards for xhtml and css making the site highly accessible.

As per some of the suggestions we have gotten here in the past we did some changes to the site. Most of the changes include color, navigation and load speed. Thanks.

This website represents the multimedia company Polymedia which is located in Montreal, Canada. All pictures in the site are some of the most beautiful views in the province of Quebec.

Congratulations to **newezra **for winning this week’s SOTW! You will be featured on the main page of kirupa.com for this week. You may also post a graphical award from this page: http://www.kirupa.com/gallery/awards.htm

Good job to all the participants. One of the valuable aspects of SOTW is to get valuable feedback about your site and get an idea of how well it stands beside some of the best on the web. Mod critiques will be posted shortly.

aeox
The site’s colors and layout are excellent. The use of graphics throughout is fantastic. Beyond that, though, there is little variation in the site. All of the content appears the same way with the same transition sequence.

eisbaer
This site is really cool! The mouse moving around was pretty neat on the splash page. The text, on the other hand, is illeigble because of the gray text/white background combination.

mafordha
The use of color is excellent. The background image is also very fitting. Great work on the site.

tie
The bright blue color is hard on the eyes. You may want to work on the color scheme a little bit. The navigation was also a bit difficult to follow.

odaibo
The splash page doesn’t look very professional. You should provide a Skip Intro button if your animation will contain an intro or if it will contain a lot of LOUD sound that the viewer may not be keen on listening. The color combination needs a bit more work, and your animation was simply scaled too large on my computer. If you are using percent values for width and height, you may want to give pixel widths and heights a shot.

350z
Wow! Brilliant site. The artwork is simply brilliant. The only minor issue I have with the site is the white text on the blue background. The text’s normal font does not seem to fit well with the overall artistic theme of your site.

ahnubis
Nice site! You may want to remove the text and the URL on the top half of your screen on your splash page. There is a lot of cool design and shapes that make your site really good. Your site looks a lot like one of the older Electric Rain site versions, but I may just be seeing things.

manudusmanu
The splash image looks really nice, but why are there two splash pages? The use of colors in the background are great, but the colors in the content portion of your screen seemed to clash too much. The font on the navigation text was really large for me. Also, the rollover effects for your buttons look a bit unprofessional.

penmig
The green color is really hard on the eyes. The hit counter button button really doesn’t look very professional. Besides that, your site is really nice. The text is simple and effective, and the use of graphics is good.

newezra
This site rocks! The music, the graphics, the transitions, text, etc. are simply brilliant. Great work.
