Site of the Week (August 9 - August 15)

New poll.

Mwd: I click, it says loading, and nothing happens…

JackBoulton: Extremely simple site. A bunch of rollovers is a bit light to be awarded SOTW.

JMS: Glad your resubmitted, I love your site! It’s clean, beautiful, and very weel organized, congrats

Guard Zero: Cool intro, nice colors and very nice work, I like it

Eisbaer: Not bad, but too grey for me.

Sekka: Nice job, it’s fast and looks good, but there are too many ā€œComing soonā€.

voted…just 2 votes so far??!

some cool entries this time :thumb:

I voted slayerment, that was just too awesome :stuck_out_tongue:

I am not a big pop-up fan, but I have to admit I still liked this site a lot. Would have been better if not for the pop-up and the under construction pages. Their FlashAmp looks pretty cool! Transitions are nice and I like the oclor scheme. Site also had a lot of work in the back end languages.

By the way I took my vote away from Sekka and gave it to JMS taking further consideration.

Just noticed a slight problem with this poll. When I was typing it in, I seem to have put the wrong entry in on number 3. It’s not JMS, it should be Dragon Design. Really sorry about this, not sure how it’s happened. :frowning:

If you voted for JMS, can you please vote for someone else?

My bad.

Arghh!

MWD: Very nice to look at. I like the segmented feel of this and the colour scheme is soothing too. The top image banner is good, the way the logo M’s mimic the mountains, good thinking. Transitions are well done… In fact the only thing wrong with the site is that there’s no content. At all. Ever. Whatever I clicked on, all I could read was a ā€œloading contentā€ message and nothing else.

JackBoulton: A simple looking site, but very small on a high res monitor. I’m not too keen on the font, it was a little blurry on occasion, and I don’t think the blue titles for the menu rollover looks that great. I think you could do a lot more with this. The information area is too text heavy for users to remain interested, and I just don’t get the duck, either…

Dragon Design: Wow, a very impressive homepage. I’m not sure that the very bright yellow shade really goes with the blue of that left hand image, but the others work well. Navigation is easy to use, and there’s no real loading time here at all either. It all looks very nice and blends together. Good design overall.

Guard Zero: I’m always a little worried whenever I see a great long list of specs like that on a splash page, but this is worth it. Quick and simple to use, it also looks gorgeous. Funky and interesting, I even liked that opening music. Your artwork is amazing and in my favourite style, I’m so impressed. It’s just great, the look, the layout, the content. God, I’m gushing.

Eisbaer: Pop up alert here… Not sure what happened, but three sprang up whn I opened this. Most strange. Well… Some of the pictures on here are… interesting. Yeah. It’s quite a dark layout, but slotted together well. The fonts on the logo looked a bit jagged for my liking. My German isn’t too hot, but I was able to use the nav easily enough, even if I didn’t understand all of it. I think it will appeal to the intended audience though.

Sekka: Another pop up site, but at least I had a warning this time. Very impressive site though, I like it a lot. Plenty of content in there (though a few Coming soon sections), but not too overwhelming. I liked all the little features included in there, like the Flash Amp. Transitions were slick too, really well done.

ComicGeek: Where are the bouncy balls?! Nooo, have they gone? Aside from the loss of the exploding bouncy ball,s I still really like this site. It’s full of information and downloads, works perfectly, and looks good too. A lot of effort has gone into this, and I like how well everything works together. Very good, a worthy competitor.

Brensco: I like the red and white colours, very attention grabbing. The sizing of the text was a nice thought too, helps your users if they have trouble with a smaller size. Menu is clear and there’s always pointers to help if you need it. I found though that in the portfolio, sometimes not all the descriptive text was visible and there was no way to scroll. A nice collection of work here though, and good designs.

Slayerment: Beautiful intro animation, but the Skip Intro button was very cunningly hidden. It’s remarkably well, atmospheric, I have to say. So many nice touches here it’s untrue. New sections take quite a while to load though, and the preloader such as it is doesn’t tell me how long I have to wait, which can be a bit frustrating. It’s a great interface though, so spooky and original.

Ajitmenon: Pop up… Definitely abstract. The music is very haunting though, I like that. It’s a nice little interface, but the text is tiny, I really had to squint to read it. The look and feel of the site is very artistic, the colours work well together, and it looks good.

mwd - Site looks nice, but the content stopped loading for me. Some of the animations seemed to run a bit slow.

Jackboulton - I dunno about you, but i like the transitions. It would be nice though if he didn’t use such conventional fonts (I think that’s Times New Roman). The rubber ducky definitely gives the site an extra ā€˜kick’.

Dragon Design - Nice layout, visuals. If he were to keep the left side static throughout, he should’ve just used frames instead of having to load that side everytime. A little more flash would also be nice.

Guard Zero - Really nice site, blend of colors, pics. This guy really knows his stuff.

Eisbaer - He should probably warn you about pop-ups. Site looks pretty good, no odd blend of colors. Menu seemed a bit buggy. He could definitely improve it.

Sekka - All these nifty animations surprisingly ran smooth and fast on my computer. Definite plus. Site looks really good, no real qualms about it. Transitions are nice. Pages load quick, we don’t have to wait through some excrutiating animation.

ComicGeek - Ah, m’boy Keith. Layout is nice, organization is also good. The site is plain and simple, just the way I like it. He should probably work on that bouncing ball animation in the beginning, it could look a lot smoother.

Brensco -

A marriage of motion graphics, sounds, original custom designed interfaces, and, the ability to create intelligent web based applications are quickly becoming the norm thanks to Flashā„¢.
That’s quite a marriage! Anyway, I like the way the site ā€œcomesā€ in. I just don’t like his preloader for each item (the rotating Loading thing).

Slayerment - Real dark site, i’m talking of like evil dark. The beginning of the site was a bit misguiding: I didn’t know whether it was loading an intro or the site or something else. The ā€œskipā€ button didn’t seem to do much. Must’ve been to load the song. Anyway, he did a pretty good job confining all that content into such a small space.

Ajitmenon - For such a good site, I don’t think the following arrow was necessary. Ths font size was a bit small, and it took me a while to figure out his menu system. At first I thought this was an incomplete site. His art is also really nice.

<hr>
I chose Guard Zero, guys. His site looks real professional, and he makes good use of CG animation.

wow, there were some pretty good sites there but I just had to go with slayerment. There visuals were extremely intriguing (the loading sequence with the crying angel alone was just great), and though demonicly dark, and in most repspects not at all ideal professionally (unless targeting work for like slayer or megadeath - though the pioneer graphics site was very nice), the overall emotion and just general ā€œfeelā€ of the site was very consitent and integrated. For instance, having the contact messages on the wall as graffiti was a nice touch and really kept with the theme and kept that integrated feel where its not just a form, its a message on a well left for someone else to discover. My biggest complaint is that it was slow to load. Whether thats a server issue or just a lack of optimization on the site, I dont know (of course you only had to wait for the preloader to reach 66.6 ;)).

Tight this week, even inspite of my **** up with the entries. But Guard Zero wins.

I thought his site sucked :stuck_out_tongue:

(like my moto: im the forum a-hole)

Slayerment will win next week :thumb:

Thanks Kit - I WILL have the page updated tomorrow; I’m not at home comp, and I forgot to install the necessary stuff to create those SOTW banners. :thumb:
