Small apps keep a clearer point of view

i keep finding that small-batch software feels more confident, even when it has fewer features. giant all-in-one apps can be convenient, but they often feel like they’re trying to be everyone’s tool and nobody’s favorite.

maybe that’s just me being biased toward focused tools, but the narrow ones usually have a clearer feel to the interface and the workflow. do people still prefer the big bundle once the novelty wears off?

Small apps can stay coherent because they don’t have to keep bolting on new “entry points” for every new audience, so the labels, navigation, and defaults can all point in one direction instead of five. Big bundles tend to win when you’re coordinating work across people (shared formats, fewer handoffs, one place to look), but solo workflows usually feel nicer in the focused tools.
