Small tools are easier to trust until you need them to talk

i keep running into this with software: the tiny specialist app is usually nicer to live in, but the giant all-in-one thing wins the moment you need three people touching the same work. less switching, fewer half-broken exports, all that.

then again, the big suite can turn into a bit of a trap because you end up accepting whatever workflow it thinks you should have. curious what people here actually prefer once the novelty wears off.

I like small tools until the moment you need shared “truth” and permissions, because then the exports/imports start feeling like carrying water between rooms. Big suites annoy me, but at least everyone is standing in the same space looking at the same wall.
