Smooth animation/motion?

Hi,

I am very puzzled in how people are able to achieve smooth animation/motion in Flash MX.

Here is an example of what I am talking about…

Notice how the menus slide in and out very quick and smooth. How would you achieve the same effect using a bunch of lines?

Try changing the FPS on the properties bar… With canvas size and colour.

what do you mean by canvas size? sorry for the newbie question

It is done with tweens.

My suggestion would be take as many of the tutorials on this website that you can (go to the tutorials section). Take the basic ones, and they will give you an understanding of what can be done in flash and why. All the tutorials are very easy to understand.
