Some help me please

ok this is kinda my first real site in flash, something I did for my wedding. however when I pull it up on line the preloader does not show up, The site will just site for a couple seconds and then start. can some one help me out.

if the movie itself is small, it’ll actually load all the frames before it even gets to play the preloader…

Does it sit there for a long time?..
If so, maybe there are some errors in the preloader.

You need to be a little bit more specific. How did you set your preloader up?.

It’s just like saying " My car don’t start, why is that? " ^^

Well I actually used a preloader component. The preloader is on the same time line as the movie and is set on the first line in the first frame. The movie starts on the second frame

the preloader definitely isn’t working.

It’s kinda hard to tell what’s wrong without specific details…

I used a tutorial here on kirupa and downloaded the preloader, no action code was mentioned

The preloader doesn’t seem to be working and i don’t see anything but a white (blank) window.

could it have something to do with the publishing of the movie?

i see it, i’ve got cable though. there was a thread about the actual preloader only coming in at about 20, something about export at frame one feature. let me check

for the loading, since i noticed that it’s really huge, maybe you could make it in multiple movies and then just load them into the main one. That way, people wouldn’t have to wait for the 2MB to load, which would make many people happy :wink:

i don’t know if you also want other suggestions, but here are some:

  1. it would be very helpful if you made it possible for the user to turn off the bg music.
  2. It seems a bit slow, maybe it wouldn’t be bad if you increased the fps.

but other than that, it’s pretty good.

how sweet a site for your wife. i would think she would prefer roses. unless you gave that to her already.

nice music. nice flowing text… i think its very sweet. Pretty big site but. Lower the size of your audio and you will be fine. you can do that by right clicking on the audio file in your libaray going to the properties.

have it on MP3. That should lower the file size by alot. play around with the bit and quaity to try and blance the quilaty and size. I good idea is to use loops. There small and effective. You can find some at www.flashkit.com

thanks for suggestions DJ.Stigma, I probably should put a way for the user to trun the music off, now the frames per second are set at 25, I think is so slow cause I was trying to hard for a flow effect.

The bg music is something that will be played during our wedding so I tried on this site as I was building it and she heard it and that was that, I don’t have a choice on it any more. unfortantly its not a loop but an entire MP3 file, it actually makes up most of teh two MB of the movie.

One thing that could solve your size problem would be to create an external movie clip that contains 2 scenes, 1) a preloader for the mp3 file, and 2) only the mp3 and a play/stop button for it. Once the main movie is loaded and the user has enetered it, it can load the external movie clip into the main one and have it load/play while the user can browse your site. This way, people won’t have to wait that long and will still be able to hear the bg music.
