I get a lot of spam mail. A lot of times I click the “unsubscribe” link, but does that really work? I have a feeling the spammers are just going to sign me up for a different newsletter.
Screw e-mail spammers. Screw them right in the ear!
lol yea i think when you hit unsubscribe it actually signs you up for about 10 more newsletters and whatnot
I always just delete and have done with it. Put the filters on email up to max and anything that slips through gets binned.
just set up an anti-spam thingy that automatically places spam in a special folder. You can then sort through it.
Go back to pigeon carriers, no one ever spammed with them

The best way I found of eliminating most of the spam mail is to set your e-mail filters to delete mails with the text “unsubscribe, mailing list” in the message body. It works quite well
EDIT: By clicking unsubscribe, you are confirming that your mailbox does exist and that you do check it. A goldmine for spammers :cyclops:
i know how it works…
suppose u get an email from
sales@anyspammerbutnotme.com hehehe and u unsubscribe it, next time they will send another email to u from saales@anyspammerbutnotme.com or they ll use something like, marketing, business and so on… ppl in my ex office used to do that, i dont think it works outside india, rite?
why dont u write them an email?? a big harsh one??

I have yahoo mail and I don’t think I have that option. Which mail do you use? Hotmail?

Dang! I was a fool for unsubscribing to so many. :*(
I just block them all with hotmail

i’m pretty sure kirupa uses kirupa.com e-mail :P. I don’t get spammed too much on yahoo. Most of it gets killed by the spamguard, and i’ll usually only get about 10 spams a week. But the best way to stop it i think is just never sign up for anything, including forums, with your good e-mail account. Make an e-mail account on yahoo or hotmail and sign up for them there.
make a dummy account adn wehn oyu sign up for stuff just use that one.
So… just what nali said then huh dipi?
Try using Outlook Express to check your Hotmail e-mail. You can set filters in Outlook Express that do as good a job as any web-based filter.
yahoo has filters, just find them. Also, use a diff acct for business, and another to communicate to friends.

The main thing is never post your email on websites. Use a contact form or a image if you must.
According to WIRED magazine, September 2004 is when spam mail will overtake other email. That means 51% of your mail will be spam. This percentage will continue to rise to 70% by 2008.
