Stylist Eye for the Other Guys

So I thought I would offer my self proclaimed expert advice to any guys seeking help with their style.

As computer geeks we as a whole tend to be a little less than stylish. Here are a few tips.

Skin Care
For those of you that Shave you must check out Anthony Logistics shaving cream. You should be able to find it in most salons or boutiques. Try a Sephora near you.

A clean healthy complection is always important. Do you wash your face regularily? Do you exfoliate? Do you know what that means?

Try the M collection from Clinique. There is a exfoliating soap that you can use in the shower to help clean out the dirt from your pores as well as wash away dead skin cells. Removing the dead skin cells allows new healthy skin to form and saves you from having irritation and or zits. Clinuqe M actually has a 3 step system that I think any guy should have. Wash / Toner / and Moisturizer. And if you really feel like femming it up, try their Total Turnaround which helps speed up the process at which your skin renews itself. It will help reduce pore size and keep your skin shiny and healthy.

Clothes
It’s hard to go wrong right now with a nice pair of worn jeans and a vintage t-shirt. If you have an urban outfitter near you I would pay them a visit. They have some nice jeans for arounf $60 and a nice collection of t-shirts.

You MUST own more than 3 pairs of shoes. Your white sneakers DO NOT go with everything. You need at least one pair of athletic trianers. One pair of black dress shoes and a pair of brown dres shoes. Shoes don’t need to be expensive but I’m not talking Payless here. Sometimes Ross or Marshalls has some discontinued Diesel or RL shoes. Like Watches, shoes are something girls pay attention to. Are you paying attention?

Hair Care
So what is going on with your hair? Are you paying $8 at your local Supercuts? I will say that I have visited them a few times, but your hair is attatched to your face and has a huge impact on your appearance. Splurge a little extra every 6 weeks and try out a salon. Tony & Guy has salons around the US and a mens cut can run around $35. Don’t forget the tip. A good stylist will also help you with some ideas on how to wear your hair in stylish ways.

What kind of shampoo and conditioner do you use? Do you have conditioner too? Is it in a seperate bottle than the shampoo?

Tony & Guy’s product company TIGI has some good shampoo and conditioners. Find out what products works best for your hair type. Also find out what type of stylish gel, pomade, wax or gel works best with your hair type and the style you are going for.

See you all looking handsome soon!

I’m here to answer any questions you might have.

Kirupa, you want to put this in the tutorials section??

Thanks hun! though, I’d like to think I’ve got some of it down already

You’re kidding, right?

I’ve never had skin problems but somehow I think there will be a problem if my skin is softer than my girlfriends. lol

Ethan, I am not sure a tutorial on the site would be best for this. I don’t think I am interested in branching the site out into metrosexual (I think that’s the word) living just yet

EDIT: Ethan - my conditioner actually comes in the same bottle as my shampoo. My hair is still silky smooth, and I seriously do think I give the Black Lab’s in the Alpo’s commercial a run for their money when it comes to shiny, black hair

Ethan, got any achne tips? my skin is always oily…i dont get a whole lot of pimples tho.

Well not all of us were born with such good looks and silky smooth skin as you, you girlfriend might also not mind if you had silky smooth skin.

What kind of products are you using now?

I too have oily skin and haven’t had much problem with pimples since my late teens. I use the M collection from Clinique. I know they have a version for oily skin. Go into the Nordstroms or Filenes, or whatever the main department store is near you and check out the makeup counter. Yes there is stuff for men in there too. You’ll get some good advice on what products will work best for your skin type and you’ll get to talk to some pretty girls while you’re in there.

Exfoliate? Does that have something to do with stripping away an individuals manhood? And buying trendy clothes is not the answer for dressing. Find your own personal style and go with it. If people have that much issue with the way you look, it’s not your prob but theirs. Unless you’re clothes have not been washed in 5 weeks. The smell will be everyone else’s prob, but you gotta fix that.

Mdipi:

Clearsil Face Wash and Equate(Walmart) brand have almost identical chemicals in their mix. I would wash with one of those 2-3 times a day to cut back on oil. A practice that I have gotten into …if you shave…is after shaving, taking this wash and lathering it to a thick and somewhat dry consistency but still spreadable and spread on your face…not scrubbing but rubbing. And under your chin. This will attack the bacteria in your skin while your pores are open and vulnerable. Watch how often you wash and what consistency you wash with as you could cause irritation to your skin.

Also look at the styling gel you are using…that stuff tends to melt down onto your face and clog pores. Also never ever sleep with gel in your hair, as it smears and clogs all over the place while sleeping. You could dry blow drying it into your hair for during the day; but that tends to dry it out more than normal once it has hardened.

Also drink plenty of water and get a decent rest. Water is helped used by your body to cleanse out those areas.

Ethan, didn’t you say you had some finincial problems not too long ago? Now I see why

Chill out on the 60$ jeans and 35 haircuts…

Damm, if there is one thing I learned from my adventures from Abercorombie and Fitch to GAP inc, (Banana Republic and Gap) is whatever you buy there, you can probobly get at ross for a 1/4 of the price… and it will last you longer too.

All that trendy stuff falls apart, and they relly on leigions of trendy meterosexuals to come in and renew they wardrome aka keep them in buisness…

Russian,

Because I live off my freelancing sometimes money is tight, but $60 jeans and a $35 hair cut are cheap my friend. I know most are not going to agree with me, but I have $170 jeans and I usually pay aroung $100 every 6 weeks on my hair.

Welcome.

And No exfoliating has to do with stripping away your dead skin cells. Unless someones manhood is worn in those dead skin cells.

I agree that someone needs to find their own style of dress. It’s also up to them if they want to look good or not. I agree that chasing trends is not totally original. I’d rather watch whats going on and put my own spin on it.

You know Ethan, you might just rival me in the hair products / skin care / exfoliants department. You ought to see my bathroom…

ethan- I hate to tell you this but you are a discrace to geeks everywhere.

lol. This whole thread is funny to me.

$170 on jeans! You’re off your rocker! I’ll admit I spend up to a hundred(taxes included), but I’d never spend that much.

wow this is fabulous darling!!
Thanks girlfriend!!!

lmao

Already knew most of these hints… But here is a bigger hint…

If you want “stylish” jeans… DO NOT GO to the mall… If you have some outlets nearby though… Hit those up… 3 pairs of Aeropostale Chakis for $30! Plus a couple of pairs of Nautica jeans… Which are extremely classy and downright comfortable… for $25. I spent a total of $150 for 3 pairs of chakis, 3 polo shirts, 2 pairs of jeans, and 8 t-shirts…

Not too shabby…

Also… About skin… Bee Pollen works great for “exfoliating” your skin… We sell that at your local GNC. Along with Aloe Vera, Vitamin E Gel, and other hair and skin products…

Also… A daily supplement of Biotin 2500 will give ou the results you want with stronger, hair and nails and better complexion of the skin…

I can’t believe I know this… lmao
