Tell me about how this logo looks?

Let me know your opioion about it. The Village is like an non-profit organization that helps children. Kinda like the boys and girls club.
There original logo is bad. So I’m re-doing it.

meh, it really doesnt do much for me as it is rather cliche. But cliche can be good. But I have just seen this concept done to many times.

are they handicapped or something? if not, are you trying to make them look as though their handicapped?

Really, that logo makes me have to go to the bathroom.

looks good. style wise, the concept is famliar, but what have we done that has not been done before? I like the fact that the child image is the same green as the title village. Perhaps you can work more with color. Also the woman and child’s hand overlap, you may want to fix that. just clean everything up. This logo does exactly what it’s supposed to do. good luck.

maybe it will be better if you do the logo more abstract. its my simple opinion.

Looks Good, but, for me the angle the guys arm on the right is at doesn’t look right. You tried it with them all at the same angle ie ‘all holding hands’?

what about this? I think this is better.

the problem I am having is in the second one I cannot tell if that is a child or not. in the first one it kinda looks like a street sign or some weird bathroom sign. Neither of them say “village” which puts me in the mind of “community”. SO I think you should show more people maybe forming a circle chain around a child. And maybe use a infant or toddler. Drives the message home a bit better.

or one person in a crowd

Both have no dynamics.
The first was an overdone bathroom man/woman thing from the 90’s.
In the first “logo” it loooked as though the left stick figure (woman) being closer, helping/holding the “child”, whereas the right (man?), holding the shoulder, was bothering/harrassing the child (middle stick figure). Was that the intention?
Anything kids related with stick figures is always open to a really wide interpretation for the audience.
The 2nd … I am with DDD. Doesn’t do or say anything. Think community, warmth, fun, togetherness (is that a word?), speech, problem solving, family, group behaviour etc…
Especially kids related “help groups” should portraing fun, activity, dynamics, we can do it. This should be achieved with color, fonts, etc.)
Defectives idea is good in a way. Normally media portrays crowds as a lot, in comparison to one, that normally has a different color and is being portrayed as one poor soul standing alone. Portray the loner being part of the crowd. Intersecting shapes, holding hands, circles …
The logo should portray Happiness and big smiles

Sitenote: Wasn’t there a semi scary movie called “The Village”?
BTW: The font is aweful (Sorry, I am ESL, could not think of a better word ;))

hehe, well the second one looks like a MySpace rip-off. So I would stay away from that one.

It seems you were closer with the first one. No one says a logo has to be complex. However proportions are key, only the father looks to scale. The child and mother look like Line-backers. Unless this is a Football boys and girls club, try to make it look like what society wants to see, not what society really is. Just a few pixels can be the difference between giving people the fat/bulky impression to the slim slender impression.

Otherwise good stuff. Consider Citibank’s logo. It is a little curved line over the “t” (http://www.citibank.com). If you stare at it too long, it looks like crap. But the upside it does have is that it is easily identified and that no one gives it a second thought. I think you should aim for that here too. Not for complexity. Good luck!

does it have to have ppl in it? i wonder if you could just get away with focusing on the V some how. The Village, is sorta a common name I guess, and I know you have no choice in the matter, but it may be kinda cool to try and put their focus on something more contemporary… with more style. Calling it The ‘V’ or something by focusing on the V in village could become catchy

Using the “V” as a shape might be cool to evolve and yes, catchy.
“The V” sounds like a … psydo underground club instead of a “non profit for kids” thingy

I agree with flashwillkill, work on something using the word “Village” or the “V”. The “Oval head people”, I think bathroom signs, cross walks or something like preschool. I admit simplistic works, but perhaps using the “V” you can design some form of unity.

Off the top of my head… why not make a unity sign using the “V” symbol similar to the shape made when two hands are holding one another.I’m envisioning an adult’s hand holding a child’s hand… similar to your first design but probably with more detail. (Design Reference I’m thinking of the Block Parent Sign, as well attaching a photo I found on google.)

I hope this is helpful.

dude keep trying tho ur gettin there

I simply do not like the concept

Creating a concept for a logo is difficult and the only way to better at it is to keep trying. What I can see from the first two example is that your not trying to think more about what the organisation is about. Of course, straight away everyone would think, “Yes, they help children so I’ll just draw a family.” Unfortunately, it doesn’t stand out and benefits the organisation. Maybe a simple outline of a house with two hands underneath, something like that. Don’t make it too detail nor too simple.

What about this I played w/ it some more and this popped up in my head.

Wait. I got a better one, people.

The last is not too bad, but I’d put the V back in. I’d also work a bit on the fingers.
