Two of my first websites

Hello, everyone! I’m not sure if the title makes sense, but I just wanted to share two of the websites that I’ve completed already (In my opinion, they’re getting better). The first one I ever created is at www.sonicallstars.net for a cheerleading organization (they’re little girls, so don’t get too excited). The other one is at [URL=“http://www.zionphiziks.com”]www.zionphiziks.com, which is the newest one, and the one I’m most proud of so far. I’ve learned a LOT of stuff through these sites, and hope you all enjoy them. The store for zionphiziks.com isn’t open yet, but if you like the stuff, feel free to come back in a week or two to purchase some shirts or something! Thanks a lot!

*By the way, be on the lookout for my personal site coming soon! It should be like a branch-off from zionphiziks.com; something like www.zionphiziks.com/steeloinc.htm or something.

…anyone?

You know your code… just needed to spend more time in design. The chearleader one looks too flashy. The site need a theme. Something that relates everything. Needs a lot of work on design basically. Looks as if you are crushing everything to the bottom.

The second site is much better and has pretty good graphics (a little to boxed).

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks a lot for the input. Hey, I asked for it, right? The one I’m working on now is definitely less-cluttered. By the way, I honestly can’t take credit for the code, if it wasn’t for this site, I wouldn’t have survived a bit!

Thanks again,
Shadownet Spy

good overall ,but loading times dude!

Sonicallstars: Two “Click to enter” pages?
The splash image needs a little anti-aliasing, and do something about the backgroundimage; on my resolution (1920x1200) it’s tiling, which is bad, even for a splash page. It’s also a bit large, so by the time the backgrounds loaded, people will have clicked to enter. (or was that my connection lagging? hmm…)
Why would you want to open it in a new window?

Also, lose the statusbar scrolling asap, and maybe even the music title scrolling.

I think the “front end” and the background clash. (nice vector style vs jagged bitmaps) Maybe the design for the content works, but it definetely needs some brushing up.

And it didn’t work in Firefox :-/

The next page is a quantum leap (physics nerds back off :hitman2:), but:

Again, why the new window?

imo, the menuelements are too bubbly compared to the sleek splash image.
I like the mouseover effects over the menuitems, though the animation may be too slow for people to bother. Drop the sound.

And the graphics on the t-shirt should be smoother.

Could you have used a scrollbar instead of a “next” link on the about us page? With that said, I think the scrollbars on the news and events section needs a little work. Maybe you could drop the logo in the content window (its already on the top of the page, right?), move the images in the news section there and move the scrollbar to the far right, so you don’t split up the window.

Ooohwee, look at the time.

But anyway, i’m sure you’ll figure this out. :cap:

yea the preloaders are always good. (there are still ppl using 56k modems)

The cheerleading is cool, may not need the 2nd “click to enter”

2nd site is cool. Kinda looks squished. Popups aren’t for everyone but sometimes they work. Above the fold is the way to go!

keep it up.

Your second site is defo an inprovement, its clear you’ve already come along way from the cheerleading site.

You do just need to work on the design skills a bit, its probably more thinking about how to plan a website more than anything. There is too much going on, not particularly well spaced, its hard to know where to look. If you perhaps trim it back and make it really explicit what the site is trying to achieve I think it would work a lot better.

Get some preloaders too. Could be awesome, but currently too much going on IMO.

Thank you everyone for your input! All of it! haha! I definitely wanted to put a preloader on the Zion Phiziks (2nd) site, but everything’s so big (file-size-wise) that I can’t move the first keyframe over. By the way, thank you for letting me know the background of the first site tiles, that’s good to know. I’m kinda’ done with the first site though, so… But thanks again, everyone! Look for my personal site coming very soon: www.zionphiziks.com/**steeloinc.html** or something very similar. A lot of these issues are addressed and fixed!

pop-ups!pop-ups!pop-ups!

I think the things I noticed have already been said.
1st one

  • Unecessary “Click to enters”, better to just go straight to website after logo appears.
  • Alot of empty space at the top, better to of set the logo within the rest of the layout somewhere. Having a top curve with empty space above, also cuts down on space for content.

2nd one

  • Much better but could do with some more breathing space etc.

For both:

  • I guess it is down to personal preference in some cases but I’m not sure why you need to put these two websites within popups.

Overall:
If this is how you’re starting out I think you’re doing great! Just need to tidy up a few things concerning how you set things out etc.
Keep up the great work.
