I have one, it takes some getting used to, but it is pretty dang cool
Anyway, about the low prices, I’d maybe check on an academic site like www.academicsuperstore.com if you’re a student, if not, maybe look for a new one on ebay.
Thanks, yeah I had a look on ebay. There were a few new ones but they were the smaller size. Thanks for the input And, no I’m not a student…haven’t been for quite some time
actually when I got mine, i compared some prices at compUSA to what i seen on ebay and compUSA was cheaper! Also you may want to check newegg.com, always got cheap stuff there!
Wacoms are hard to find cheap, the graphire is cool, but I recommend the intous2. I have 3 of them 4x5, 6x8 and 12x18… and they are superior to the graphire, in the sensitivity catagory, it’s well worth the actual selling price. It’s also fun to program all those buttons on top to launch your commonly used applications. And the tracing sheets on them are good if you don’t have a scanner but want to be able to put your sketches on the comp.
But if you’re not looking to do extremely detailed work, then go w/ the graphire it gets the job done too. $200 isn’t that much money.
I really want one… can someone who has used one explain how its like? I’d imagine you’d get ‘writer’s cramp’ after a while… also, how accurate are they for everyday stuff? and with the clicking, do you have to lift the pen up and tap the surface? that doesn’t seem too accurate to me…
also, how good is working with a little 4x5" tablet? I’ve noticed, to get from one side of the screen to the other, i only move my mouse about 5-10cm… so a 4x5" doesnt seem too small… but for drawing, how is it?
Yeah, i’d never use my wacom as a mouse. Most of them come with a mouse that goes right on the tablet (like a mouse pad), but I prefer my optical mouse.
what’s wrong with using it as a mouse?
i mean, the tablet’s *almost * as big as the screen itself,
so isn’t it easier to just ‘tap’ your way around rather than
flicking a mouse around?
