Just thought I’d let y’all know that a site of mine is currently featured over at www.fontsforflash.com – go check it out

Regarding the music selector while in the portfolio section –
Thanks for reminding me of that! My choices are not easy on that one… I think my best choice might be to just unload any loaded portfolio section when you hit the music selector. I’ll try to get around to fixing it soon.

Thanks for the comments, all.

I know, I know, shame on me for bumping my own thread, but I thought I’d let some people know I finally broke down and actually added percent loaders to the bigger loading sequences – after you set your bandwidth/intro prefs and go into the main site, as well as when you load a main subsection.

That was one thing the Kirupa people complained about in the SOTW feedback.

I’m a little late to jump into the complimenting you game, but I have to say your site is amazing and a huge inspiration. I love teh music. Great Job

one question why isn’t there a loading with the intro’s.

FOR THe IT"s AWSOME!!!

**You do not have to have an intro, most of the sites submitted do not have one either. This week you are against flashlevel ( www.flashlevel.com ) in the race for site of the week. Good luck, I love your site! **

Check out FlashLevels Portfolio. This site is pretty sick.

Hey, that’s not what this thread’s about

You’re right about the intros – I’ll get right on it.

**60 plays at 38 in IE6 for Windows. So do 61 and 62

63 plays at 60-61.

Friggin’ bugs! **

I don’t get it. So you’re saying that when I view my SWFs raw, it will actually play at half the speed in IE? Weird. See, I can’t really test this out myself, because my computer is 7 years old and it is always slow.

The Flash 6 player for IE for Windows is an ActiveX controller, and it is filled with framerate bugs very similar to what used to plague the Mac player. To get 60 fps, you must export at 63. To get 30, you must export at 33. If you export at 60, 61, or 62, Windows IE will spit it back at 38-40. If you export at 30, 31, or 32, WinIE will spit it back at 24-26. I verified it all with a framerate tester after I noticed the pitiful speed my 60 fps movies were playing at.

This problem does not exist in Netscape, the standalone player, on the Mac, or in any alternate browser or any older versions of the Flash player… only the Flash Player 6 for Windows IE, which is 90%+ of people, says me.

I have notified Macromedia of this repeatedly. They don’t ever respond. :frowning:

There’s a huge, old thread over at FK on this (which I found while doing my investigations) if you want to do a search and check it out.

So what’s the conversion rule? Is it to set it 3 FPS above a multiple of 10?

Well, I’ve only tested 30 and 60, since those are the only ones I use…

I thought maybe you would be interested in reading this, a post about your site on were-here:

**Polkiousness, why do you use 63 FPS if the human eye can only see up to 60 fps? You’d only need 63 FPS if some of your veiwers were birds… **

When a real camera record something, it will automatically record skipped frames (with motion blur, the image is not perfectly sharp in movies, just use the pause button on a player).

A computer to do not calculate all the frames, nor implement blurred images. So in a movie an eye cannot see further than 30 fps but in a video game (for example), some people can see a difference up to 200 fps.

PS: if you do not use a refresh rate enhancer for windows XP nor manually increase refresh rate (the default setting is 60Hz), I urge you to download one. Now that I am used with it, I cannot stand 60 Hz refresh rate on monitors, and I really feel that games are choppy when fps go under 80.

very nice job on http://www.listenupgroup.com/flash.html
I love your beats…I’m like walking outside…and ur beats keep on coming up in my head  keep it up!

Thanks all

And telekinesis – I’ve been monitoring that thread; it’s one of very many. I could link to all my ā€œcool sitesā€ forum listings since I released this site if you want, lol

Both WebFeats and Listen Up have made their way into the French and German communities too, and it’s hilarious running their threads through Babelfish. I’m still waiting for someone to post me at Flashkit though, hehe. Someone did at Ultrashock, but the thread died like a week ago. Listen Up is still on the first page of the bomb shock forum though.

I was posted for the second time at www.newstoday.com earlier this afternoon, which generates about 400 hits in 2 hours but then doesn’t contribute moch anymore. This thread generates a lot of hits too

I have a couple projects I’m working on that should be viewable in around a month (maybe longer, depends). I’m so happy to finally be getting some attention for all this Flash

And BlueTrin – good explanation. And I agree the 60Hz is bad news, really hurts my eyes… anything under 75 does.

Thanks again guys.

Oh I almost forgot what i wanted to post =):

Both sites are really great, I am mostly a C/C++Unix/Win32 , and a Java programmer, I recently saw many great websites in Flash. And both, WebFeats and Listen Up, are really nice. During my spare time, I try to learn some about web gfx and designing and 3DSMax/Lightwave, I hope than 1 day I could be as good as you =).

Hey sick site, I like it a lot, one question, what font are you using on the menu items?

Yeah, what is the arabic looking font called and where do you get it. Not that I’d rip you off but it’s an awesome font.

The nav font is hooge_05_55 from www.miniml.com . The content font is standard_05_55 from the same site. The little tiny font used occasionally is hooge_05_57.

The big fancy font is ā€œMap of Youā€ from Flashkit.
