What camera do you use?

Woah, many people do use the canon powershots. Ive heard there pretty good. I havent got one atm, but i would settle for a powershot, the canon ixus or a cybershot 5.0mp with carl leiss lenses.

i have also heard that the powershots are good, apparently the S60 is meant to be one of the best. Anyone got one?

Sony DSC-t1

pheww, thats $1000 AUD. :stunned:

Since you guys have cameras already, what qualities/features would you need from a camera that is ideal for good freelancing photography for maybe a portfolio for example? How many megapixels is sufficient and if theres anything not worth buying?
Post camera model names as well.

Thanks :ne:

Konica Minolta Dimage xt
I think I could’ve got a better one for that money but meh…

How do you like that Holga, Replode? I’ve been thinking about getting one myself and maybe convert it to a pinhole. They look like fun…

The holga is great. It’s small, and it takes some really great stuff. And the light leaks and vignetting adds to the originality of whatever you shoot. I’ve seen those pinhole things, but the only modding I did on mine was convert it to a 6x6. I hope you end up getting one, they are worth every penny (of like $15) and are fun cameras.

Replode, i might check the holga out - looks pretty cool!

Right now my main camera is the Canon 300D (Digital Rebel) I love it to death!

Canon S330, its only 2 megapixels but it takes beautiful pictures.

They don’t make it anymore,

I want to get a CASIO QV-R40 is it worth a £100 seems like just wanted to get ppls opinion…

All depends on what you use the camera for, these following point are the things to look out for.

-a good Megapixel (4-5, this will determain how large in resolution/ dimension you can have your photos. a 5 mp you can print out whole a a4 page photo)

-quality lens (a camera may have all the features under the rainbow but if it dosent have a good lens, then you wont get a good picture)

-manual or auto features
-good shutter speed
-a average of 3-4 optical zoom (which some have a killa 10x now)
-ability to exchange flash and lens.
-long lasting battery ( i hate those “AA” battery type now… whats going on there?)
-A decent weight to it (easy to hold the camera steady)
-smart location of important buttons,
-a large size LCD screen( try to get something 1.8 size)
-default macro min and max “in focus” measurment.
-Memory card type (will determain how much you have to pay for a upgrade to a higher size card)

those are few of the point you look at when buygin a camera…
i suggest look at www.dpreview.com and go into there camera reviews you can see list of what the camera has and comments on whats good and bad. also have a search here i remember we might of had a thread about this.

I have a Canon Powershot g3 and i love the camera, its hard working , battery last for age (lithium battery) 4mp is enough for web and print for me , although 5 would be better for print work. has a removable lens, flash additions, manual features, custom features, decent optical zoom, cool lcd screen that rotates and like all canon cameras i have encounted, a top quality lens.

I have a Kodak LS443, 4.1MP its ok…

eh, no camera here… for now…

i did just buy a cellphone with a camera in it though, but i dont think that counts…
