What´s so great about a .pdf file.....?!?!

hmm probably.
maybe we should offer tutorials for the print buisness too :stuck_out_tongue:

then I think its not very useful for my dad´s work, he uses Word to print his docs but they are almost only text and a couple of small images…

Adobe Reader always crashes my Firefox. :frowning:

I should buy Acrobat, that would probably fix it.

well for starters its great for sending multiple page files via email we make power point presentations at work which have from 300 to 600+ pages for training Pharmaceutical employees with standard operating procedures and trust me youd rather send a 600 page 5mb or 10mb attachment than send a 125mb ppt file via email so your client can view it and tell you where to make changes if any need to be done.

Second when you print its almost as printing a file straight from illustrator (when done correctly) thats why its mainly used for print business.

Now for web i understand why you people think it sucks because thats not what it was made for its sorta like a bonus.

Asides from the other features other members have said as well it just depends waht your using it for, for print business its magnificent for web it sucks.

Hm… I hate PDF, yet ironically, I convert many documents to pdf quite often, mostly for like other people. I’d never buy the Acrobat program though, really expensive and not worth it. I just save the document as html and convert html to pdf with php

like many have said, it all depends on what you use it for, for print work its essential. Sending clients a pdf was a routine for me at my work to get final artwork approved , Not only can clients digitally put approved stamps but also circle areas they wish to change and add notes to what needs adjusted.

To the printer side you have your colour seperation checking and preflight options.

Like i said before Acrobat is deep, very deep program, many people including myself would not even use half of the options available to you. Its all about being able to exchange your files to someone else easier, quicker and most importantly that way you attended the file to look.

PDF’s look more professional than word documents.

Frankly, i can’t stand PDF’s. They take too long to load, and are just pointless when you could use HTML. I think they are O.K. for printing though.

In addition to that, we all know that FlashPaper sounds so much cooler anyway. :sure:

like krilnon said, they look more pro, definitely a good thing too; oh, and thanks everyone, this thread got more answers than I expected
