Whatchya think?

I completely agree that you can not make a decision either way from this video. It was obviously edited. Most likely that soldier was not even talking about that incident. And also how do you know that that was even in Iraq. Could just have easily been shot in a backyard or at an army training facility. Which would have explained the excitement. The soldier passed the training. You have no idea of the context.

good point…thats my point too. not enough to go on.

No, but you yourself said that we don’t know the rest of the story, not what happened before or after, so neither you or me know if that guy was actually capable of blowing himself up and killing hundreds of people. I didn’t see much people close around to him, and it didn’t seem as if he was carrying enough bombs to blow up the whole area around him (and that’s presuming he did carry a bomb).

So arguements like these can go on forever, as neither of us all actually know what the situation was. I can say they’re retarded for taking pleasure in shooting that guy, you can say they might’ve did it to protect themselves or other people.
But we’ll never know :sigh:

Exactly, I think thats the point Yeldarb was making. Since we don’t know and it can be either way its harsh to call these soldiers in human, etc. Everyone’s so quick to condem these men, and no one here can imagine what htey have to go through.

Yeah, I was typing mine while he posted his ;(

:sigh:

Whether this particular video was edited or not really isn’t important in regards to the grand scheme of things.

Whether you want to believe it or not this type of stuff does happen. I wasn’t kidding about friends of mine coming back from a Bosnia peacekeeping tour telling stories of soldiers wanting to have their pictures taken holding a severed head.

They witnessed soldiers who were supposed to be there helping the Bosnians knock innocent people in the face with the butt end of their rifles cause they were surrounding their jeep and praising them. It’s crazy but it’s true.

Soldiers are taught to kill. I suppose sometimes when they’re standing there, gun in hand, enemy laying on the ground in front of them, what a normal person would do, and what the soldier would do before training, is something completely different from what the soldiers there did. They are trained, and told to kill the enemy, and I suppose their train of thought got skewed in this situation. But it can be expected in war.
