do you want showy kicks or something you can use in the street if you are jumped?
Both
i am partial to true shaolin kung fu with strong qi gong elements - a martial art that focus not only on the physical strength/speed/power, but also on strengthening your internal energy to supplement …
Let me tell you exactly what you should do in respect to any potential street fight.
That’s right, running away. Street fights are nothing but trouble, there’s pretty much no such thing as a 1 on 1 street fight (most of the time it’s 10 on you) and you just get (seriously) hurt and stuff.
I’ve done ju-jitsu and am currently training boxing. I highly recommend both because they’re great for recreation, coordination, getting some skill, boosting confidence etc.
Awesome awesome. Jujitsu it is
currently training boxing.
That’s the best recommendation right there I’d say. A prize fighter will trump your average black belt all day long.
Or just say “You may know karate, but I know karaizy!”:chinaman:
I was going to say the same thing.
No offense, but bull honkey. IMO.
I personally like ****o Ryu Karate. It’s more defensive fighting…using your enemies energy to break their arms and crack their ribs and good stuff like that
Personally I think aikido/hapkido is the way to go. It’s defensive while being offensive, I took “mudokwan” for a few yrs. which was basically a glorified taekwando, but I learned karate, judo, jujitsu, and a little aikido. It’s a popular thing here in Indiana, but essentially it’s just a mixture of “bastardized” martial arts grouped in one, and what you learn changes depending on the place you go. ANYWAY, I prefered aikido over any of the other styles.
Well I was raised in the ghetto and practiced the art of “negro-can-do”…That is the art of just doing what ever you can to knock your opponents block off…
But seriously Jui Jitsu is hella cool…If that is the one where you mainly throw people and use your opponents weight and momentum against them. Beat folks up Steven Seagal style.
Yep… a guy I work with here takes that it’s called Juko Ryu, so he just told me, the primary arts that went into it were Aiki Jujetsu and Kempo Jetsu, and basically it allows you to dish out massive amounts of damage and take it in return. We didn’t believe him when we first talked to him about it but… he had us punch him in his throat and someone else gave him a direct hit to the ribs… and he just brushed it off. It’s definately hardcore training. They show it on the discovery channel. I can scrap… but I’m not that hardcore
That’s aikido/hapkido
i train in Jeet kune do, CSW(combat submission wrestling, BJJ(brazillian jiu jitsu), and Muay Thai.
Mauy Thai is a standup art so if you want to get good with striking and standing fights then take this.
CSW is alot like boxing and teaches you what to do on the ground aswell as standing.
BJJ is when you learn to fight people bigger than you. they teach you how to use technique more than power. again BJJ is alot of ground work.
Jeet kune do is basically MMA. it teaches how to defend yourself on the streets and combines alot of different arts together. Try out Jeet kune do for a while then you can take individual courses to try and get better at each technique.
u can train in a controled environment and kick ***, but out on the streets you might get knocked. so the best way to get better at fighting is to actually fight.
Or…you could throw down with a little “Fuh Que” LOL…j/k.
Well finally the first one that made any sense. Thats basically the same thing I do. Use what you have at hand. I have used anything from a pair of vice grips to a brick to a sewing needle.
a sewing needle…lol. And your footer is pretty funny.
Ummm…
No martial arts is for street fighting because martial arts is not fighting, it’s defense. If you want to learn how to street fight for whatever reason then you’ll want to learn Japanese street fighting technique. You cannot learn this at a school as it’s frowned upon by real martial artists.
Don’t forget about the wonderful, but sometimes frowned upon, art of sucker punching. It’s pretty easy to learn. Put all your weight behind one punch when the opponent is in a state of unawareness and knock the crap out of him.
What’s wrong with a preemptive strike? I think as long as the dude if facing you and sees you it’s cool. Jumping out of the bushes and cracking someone, or hitting someone in the back is bullcrap.
The reason I bring this up is that I got in a fight in high school with a guy. It was planned, we said to meet somewhere to do it. There was a huge crowd that showed up. He was in a yard and I was in the street. He walked out in the street to meet me, upon which I just cracked him in the face. It was pretty much over right then, it caused a cut above and below his eye that required stitches. I got a LOT of flack for it, saying i sucker punched the guy. In my mind I just hit him before he hit me. I wasn’t going to wait for fists to come up.
i took goju ryu back in the day if you are interested in an effective more traditional karate - but mixed martial arts is the way to go for effective brwaling.
 that’s kewl but there’s nothin like watching them beat themselves up. I went to go watch a fight between a buddy of mine and this other fella. As we were waiting for him to come he was coming down the stone stairs… well… I’m sure you can guess what happened. Yea he tripped over his own feet and plumitted down about 6 stairs and busted his mouth on the ground. There were about 50ppl and each on of them laughed soooo hard and left :D, even his boys laughed uncontrollably w/ their heads down in shame. I guess that’d be the “Fall Down Hurt Yourself Jutsu”
