I’ve tried a couple of styles of martial arts (Karate, Hung Gar, Wushu) but they are way to boring. A lot of it is forms and seem way too boring.
I looked through this huge list of martial arts styles and there are way too many. Do you know any style for fun/useful 1 on 1 combat fighting? Jiu-jitsu sounds like what I want, but it doesn’t look cool when fighting heh.
Anything that looks cool and doesn’t waste much time other than just fighting techniques?
A good friend of mine perfected Jiu-jitsu a while back. Guy is sick, I wouldn’t mess with him. He had tons of fun learning and training too. Give it a go
i’ve got friends in that and yeah you don’t mess with them - good example of people that use these styles are people from the ultimate fighter tv shows

Anything like that would seem to defeat the ideal purpose of learning a martial art. It seems like you want to learn how to fight, but not actually learn the art.
a lot of people will poo-poo it, but i’ve heard judo is the most practical and realistic martial art you can learn. In 2 seconds you can have a guy on the ground in a choke hold he’ll never get out of. I’ve also seen a lot of stories on the news of robberies being foiled or bad guys getting brought down by someone who knew judo.
It may not be as glamorous as the others but I know some top ranking judo guys and gals that I would NOT want to mess with. Plus it is an olympic sport :pleased:
what krilnon said is so true. “cool” isn’t what art is… example from Enter The Dragon:

Lol krilnon you are exactly right. I don’t really want to learn the art (I probably might if I had time).
Jiu-Jitsu sounds pretty good then. If I remember right, Bruce Lee invented Jeet Kune Do? I thought it’s not really a fighting style, but rather a collection of techniques or something. You’d have to master everything else to learn this
Martial arts are not about fighting.
They are used to train your body and mind. In the worst case, you can think of them as being also usefull for defending yourself, but never for fighting. You don’t use your power to protect yourself, but your spirit.
