When your users just want ChatGPT

This is actually wild. Canva spent money and engineering on AI features, then their own users went “no thanks” and just opened ChatGPT in another tab instead. That’s not a bug in the feature rollout. That’s the feature telling you something.

Like, maybe some tools don’t need AI baked in. Maybe the better move was “hey, we’re good at design, ChatGPT is good at writing, let’s not fight that.” But instead they built it, it got expensive, users hated it, and now the growth forecast is smaller.

but the actual point stands, everyone bolted on a visible chatbot instead of letting AI do quiet stuff behind the scenes. Notion AI is kind of the exception imo, the inline autocomplete thing feels less like “please talk to our robot” and more just… there when you need it
