The fantasy is one voice, but the job is coordination

sci-fi assistants always felt like they were about one perfect conversation, but real AI tools seem to get judged on a much less glamorous thing: how many tabs, copy-pastes, and little setup steps they can save. The magic is nice, but i think people mostly care whether it actually disappears into the workflow.

Has anyone else noticed that the best ones are kind of boring in the best way?

“Disappears into the workflow” is exactly it—when the tool can read context and write back into the place you’re already working (doc, ticket, editor) without you shuttling text around, it suddenly feels useful instead of magical.
