Widgeo.us is a fresh and upcoming internet startup founded by 2 friends of mine. The concept of Widgeo.us (in my own words) revolves around the liberation of communication and empowering of users by providing them with an easy tool to build tools. That is all I can say, though the name “widgeo.us” sort of gives it away.
I joined Widgeo.us as Art Director. As we are still at a very early stage of development, we don’t have much to disclose except for our logo and business cards with a short description of what and who we are.
The logo depicts the company name exiting/entering a rounded rectangular box. The rounded rectangle mark represents our product, widgets and the logo entering and exiting represents communication and the flow of information. The logotype is set in Neue Helvetica® 65 Medium modified with rounded corners for a casual, relaxed appearance.
The cards were printed in Hong Kong, together with the UV varnish effect on the logo at the back of the card. The idea behind this business card design is to packed as much relevant (only relevant) information as possible into a compact card without clutter. I was able to do it by separating the various elements (logo, particulars, description, etc) into boxes and applying some clever typography principles. Colors are meant to be fresh and free from corporate cliché.
