Hey everyone,
I got this problem with my wireless network (802.11g). Downstairs, I have a Belkin router with built in wifi basestation. It has 4 UTP cable connectors, and 2 antennas on top to beam the wireless signal. The problem I’m having is that ever since we got a new table downstairs, the wifi signal I got keeps dropping out on the most inappropriate times (DDD, sim ? :P). And here’s the best part: I’m 3 floors higher than where the router is at. That’s right. It always worked acceptably when the other table was there, but now it’s just crap.
So, I’m looking for some sort of wifi signal booster to place at the first or second floor, to boost it all the way up to my room. Anyone know of anything like that ? I’ve looked at this ‘Cantenna’, but it has this connector I can’t use, because the antenna’s are connected to the router on the inside, so I can’t unscrew the antenna’s and attach the Cantenna.
Possible alternatives are using a system where the internet data is transferred through the power lines in the house (yes, that exists), or just wire a huge cable al the way 3 floors up, for which we’ll probably need to have someone from my ISP come over (because those are prolly the only ones with UTP cables long enough) which we can’t really do because the sort of router we have isn’t really allowed, heh.
