Wireless Print Server and Samsung and Mac

Alright, I’ve got a Wireless Print Server connected to my Samsung Laser Printer (it’s as big as a kite, it’s as useless as a kite, and it’s white, and I don’t know why my dad doesn’t listen to me about hardware). It’s then hardwired (for the time being…) to my router.

I used the software that comes with it to setup a static IP of 192.168.1.101, but then I am unable to connect to it.

On Win, I try using it’s printer configuration software, but it says I need to have the same subnet as the printer itself, 255.255.255.0. I run ipconfig and I find that is what I already have configured (as if I didn’t already know that…) Windows amazes me again, a I can’t get past that point in the configuration.

On Mac, I try setting it up as an IP Printer, but I never get a response when printing a test page. The printer is unable to receive any messages. I noticed it was detected as an AppleTalk printer. I add this as a printer (using “Generic Postscript Printer” as the type, because Samsung is not listed), and print a test page. This time, it does not display an error, but the print job simply disappears, and is added to the completed jobs list.

Any help is of course graciously accepted,
Jeff Wheeler
