XP problem #2194671391834018

My computer has a 60 gb hard drive, and it’s always said it was 60 in my computer. But now when i look at it in my computer, it says its only 37 gb. I WANT MY OTHER 23 BACK. I’ve tried disk cleanup and deleting temp internet files, but that didn’t help.

lol mine does that too… it just like randomly doesnt show 13 gb… and i dont know why…
i think xp sucks… does that help?

i guessing its partitioined or something.

did you partition your drive??? do you have a seconday OS??? did you enable large disk support???

oh forgot how much virtual ram are you using??? if you have that amount as virtual ram then there your problem

have you got the system restore set to summit really high? coz if u do it takes the amount away from the overall total.

**** XP!:scream:

last week, my dvd-rw drive would not show up, just like it wasn’t even there. i restarted my computer and everything was fine, but it was kinda scary for a minute.

oh i know try deleting the files in your recycle bin maybe thats the problem lol

xp pro rocks you. get all the updates…get some anti-spyware…a good virus…turn off error reporting and you’re fine

oh and the illegal copies aren’t all there

get a legal version

LMAO!!
well it’s true isnt it:P

Well dang it. I just typed about a page of stuff and lost it. Well, here we go again. Thanks for the replies, and sorry I didn’t reply before this.

I don’t know if I partitioned my drive, or if I have enabled large disk support. I don’t know what these things are, so I bet they’re at defaults or weren’t done.

My sytem restore is set at MAX, 12% (4578 MB)

No files in recycle bin

I don’t know if I have virtual memory. I have 512 mb of real (i guess thats what i should call it) ram. Here is what I see in Task Manager when I click Performance (some of the numbers are constantly changing so I’ll just put what they’re at to see if you guys see anything strange)

Physical memory (K)
Total 523616
Available 350960
System Cache 347288

Kernel Memory (K)
Total 26820
Paged 19008
NonPaged 7584

Commit Charge (K)
Total 131852
Limit 1280560
Peak 354544

PF Usage
128 mb

Commit Charge 128M / 1250M

Thanks again guys

bump

how many users are on your pc?? remember user data is private and if another user has data stored somewhere you dont know you wont find it

just me

you may need to parition your hard drive using a program such as Partition magic, it can regain your missing space…it has a feature where you can redistribute unused space

note: the demo does not actually rearrange your HDD…its simply there to show you WHAT the program does, if you can get full version, then its really useful

Dont you mean defrag your hardrive? Makaveli. Defraging your hardrive basically organises the files in your sectors of your hardrive, You see as you get using your computer and start installing, unistalling programs and moving and deleting folder, your files are all over the sectors on your harddrive, what defrag does is locates all the file and basically rearranges them, Not physically, basically you see no difference , but you can get back alot of Meg back from doing this and your apps will run much faster.

:::its sorta like having a fresh install of windows, we all love that feeling :beam:

Yeah id say that a defrag wud be the way to go, igf u havnt already, and u dont need partition magic (well not really) coz u can partition ur drive and rearange and such like usin windows.:toad:

You can also download Acronis. It is a partioner, htttp://www.acronis.com

Hey, somebody mentioned virtual ram, what is that?

Sorta like my virtual cd/dvd drives?
