31 Looking to stop Software Dev. Any advice?

Hey everyone

Does anyone have any advice on what I can do with my life? I have been working with Flash for 10 years, and professionally, 5 years full time as the sole developer making games/apps/etc.

I am so used to Flash work, that I feel I have lost all other skills. I do not even think I could work in a call center now…

When I am 50 I am going to have no money, yet have spent probably 100000 hours self teaching just to get a bad wage, worse than builders, teachers, everyone really. What is the point in this I am asking myself?

If the future is HTML and JS, like everyone tells me it is, I want nothing to do with it. Has anyone tried application scale JS before? It’s laughable. Typescript did a lot to help out but the browsers when it comes to cross compatibility? It is just as bad today as it was in 1999 just we are talking sounds, video, canvas, webgl… All of which does not work the same way across devices. No way do I want to do this for the next 20 years.

And the cherry is, when you look at jobs, they want this, they want you to write a web application running perfectly in all devices and given the actual work involved to achieve this, they are willing to pay 25k… 25k… I mean, its insane.

I could try to do contract work, I have never done it, but it seems risky in these times with Flash. If I quit my job, it could be I end up simply being unemployed and back in a warehouse in the long run.

So with my knowledge of the Flash works with pretty good OOP. Where can I go? Is there any jobs out there outside of the field of development that I can migrate to?

Thanks
