Anything besides Catholic?

very rasict? someones a little touchy. i didn’t meen to offend anyone, just i dont think there are many other ways to mention it. mind you in the context i put it, it did seem, well slightly… off colour (would that work?)

Well, your part right in the sence that i have spent very little time learning about my birth religion. more than 15 minutes, but im sure you were just using a figure of speach. (in reality, about 3 days worth i’ve spent) I find christianity to be so dull. partially because its everywhere. too common. other religions are much more interesting. well some are anyway. (I dont get why christianity is different religion from jewdisim altogether, if you ask me - which you didn’t, its more of a branch. they believe in the same god, just have differant ways of expressing it. kinda like catholisizim and prodestant. Mind you i dont know much about jewdisim because it looks to similar to christianity, and i already told you why i dont look into christianity in my spare time)

and i know breaking 1 commandment wont send you to hell, its an exaduration for comedic purposes. infact thats why i took the quote. i took it more because it was funny (to me anyway) not because it was accurate. ****it i know its not accurate.

but on the other hand, i think what you said about the 200 people killing thing is a little weird. because it sounds like catholic belief that you can redem your self. i think its weird because the prodestant is supposed to be protesting the catholic way (hence name). but, as you know SO MUCH MORE than i do (no, that wasn’t sarcam) about this, i’ll just take your word this time.

and i also know what the money is used for, but i also think it is funny that god, this almighty being needs something like money (think about that one, honestly, try and think about how weird that is) but you say it goes to the church and charities, so it can’t be so bad. and as you know WAY more that me (no sarcasm there again) i’ll take your word. again. mind you, i already knew where it went anyway.

W.A.S.P my friend is an accronym. White Anglo-Saxon Prodestant.
I have watched alsorts of things, in school and out, been to many places in the US, had many friends go to places in the US, and all the reports are the same. down there, you are either white, or black. And be sensible people, im not trying to offend in this one. i have no problem with other races what so ever. Its when people get really antsy about it and say that the smallest little thing is racist. now that pisses me off. but i wont go there, because this post would go above character limits then. But where was i? I have asked all my friends and everyone i know (almost) that have been to the US, what its like down there, and one comment that always comes up is: “There are almost no races down there except for white people and black people”. So i think i have i good position to say that the US isn’t nearly as diverse as say, Canada, where i live. Again, i bring up a comment in previous post about how i have almost every type of religion living on my street. mind you, that is a fair exaduration, because there are more religions that could probably fit on my street, but you get my point i hope.

Well. If i haven’t got my point across, i will put it out now.

  1. I MEAN NO HARM OR MAJOR (hell, even minor) OFFENCE TO ANYONE. AS THIS IS A VERY TOUCHY (i imagine) TOPIC AND WISH THAT PEOPLE WOULD LIGHTEN UP.

  2. I KNOW THE QUOTE IS EXADURATED, BUT I TOOK IT MOSTLY FOR COMEDIC PURPOSES. THERE ARE OTHER WAYS I COULD (and judging now probably should) HAVE WRITTEN BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE WAY TO TOUCHY. TAKE ME AS AN EXAMPLE FOR NOT TOUCHY. PEOPLE IN MY CLASS MAKE FUN OF ME IN JOKES, AND I LAUGH IT OFF (in all cases except sexaullity jokes, because then its never intended as a joke, not in my class anyway) BECAUSE I KNOW IT IS A **** JOKE. ITS MENT TO BE FUNNY. (you know what, im going to stop my self on this topic right now, because this is something that deserves its own full length essay if i were to write it)

  3. THIS IS MY OPPINION (more or less) IF YOU STILL DONT LIKE IT AFTER ALL I HAVE SAID, FINE, THAT IS YOUR OPPINION. BUT THE POINT OF THIS THREAD I BELIEVE (correct me if im wrong) IS TO STATE YOUR OPPINON ON RELIGION (or something very close to it)

thank you and remember I MEAN NO HARM

****, im good at writing novels

**Copper, your post sounds to me like you know absolutely nothing about the Christian religion **

It sounds like you know very little about religon at all. It’s very hard to speak when someone does not know what they are talking about.

Thats about as rude as I’ll get!

why would someone who admitedly knows very little, and has little desire to learn more [edit]about religeon[/edit], post in a thread about religeon?

then they wonder why they are Flame-Bait…

sometimes it is better to think, and not post, then to post and not think.

To all who are against my religion, I say to you now, do your worst. Your evil can not even scratch it’s doors!

  1. This is not a personal attack againts Catholicism, so please don’t make it into one.

  2. Are you saying because I am not catholic, that I am evil? Cuz that definately doesn’t sit well with me…

Jubba…there’s a mis understanding… I was just angry at how other people act as if they know everything… they go straight to conclusions… :frowning: I’d better delete my post here sorry for that. Forgive me!

don’t delete your post at all… that is not needed. I was just trying to clear up what you meant

all is well…

Sorry I already did! You know, topics like these should not be discussed in a casual manner. It is very delicate. That is my opinion though.

oh definately. They should be handled in a mature deliberate manner. I just wasn’t sure what you were getting at with your post.

Ok, now I’m posting this hoping that people are open to opinions and different ideas that people have. I don’t believe in God, or Jesus, or the idea that anything in the bible could be true. I think it’s great that some people would die for their religion, to be able to believe in something that much sounds like it would be fulfilling. But the idea that one “person” can create the universe, and that a child was born to a virgin who has the power to turn water into wine, it seems to me that the stories in the bible were created to give people faith. It’s kinda late where I am so I am talking out of order probably but I don’t care. Last, just because a person will die for a religion does not mean it’s the best.

lol… it’s ok Calli. Some of us may not be open to all ideas, but at least the majority of the mods are open to yours.

to be fair, the Christians never said that God was a person, just that we were fasioned in his image.

yeah I understand they didn’t call him a person, I just wasn’t sure what to call him, didn’t want to say thing or something.

I was raised (brainwashed Catholic) but now I am coming to my senses. My beef with religion is that it is not a belief at all. It is a set of values that are forced upon you at a young age. Not many infants question words from the very family that raises them. Atleast not until they are mature and can think for themselves…

yes, thank you, the point I was missing in my statement

the only reason i’m catholic is because i have a responsibility to keep tradition in my family alive. we’re not devout catholics by any means, and i don’t buy half the stuff in the bible, but i think it’s important to keep the tradition thru generations. otherwise, i really don’t like the church and i don’t think i need the catholic church to be faithful or whatever.

in the end, i believe there is a higher “something” that delegates our fates and if you’re a good person, with high standards and morals, i respect that more than if you went to church every day but are a ****ty person.

excuse me for rambling, i’m just really tired from my trip.

If the tradition is neither noble or worthy, why keep it alive?

Wohoo Pinx the croatian is back!

The reason I see to keep it alive, (unless you completle dont believe it) Its for culture, to know who and where you come from. It will, and does change slowly, but abandoning tradition a culture at the moment leaves a vacume for it and thats why you get alot of alienated people, who dont know who they are.

Ditto.

besides, those who do not remember history, are doomed to repeat it. All the faiths of the world have played a vital part in our history. Plus we really don’t want to repeat something like the Inquisition.

The bible has GOOD works in it. It’s full of stories that teach very strong morals. Morals which really are quite good for society.

It’s like War and Peace. If you haven’t read it, you’re just missing out big time.

Chlidren shouldn’t be taught to be good from a book, the parents should do it. Also the morals are only carried out by those who want to carry them out, therefore a person who is “good” will be good without reading about them, and I person who is “bad” will be bad even after reading them. Thats just my personal opinion though.

P.S. I like the new quick edit thing.

Tradition, in itself, is fine. But there’s no need to keep falling down the steps just so generations ahead don’t do the same? Hmm, can you tell I’m not a Catholic fan? :smirk:
