Arrgghhh so frustrated!

The main page for my school is due in like a week and I attached what I’ve got so far… I am thinking of adding like a box of the events list on the left.

But what I got now doesnt really fit and the color scheme sucks (white outline above the background pic)
I’m talking about that little box with those numbered things on the side. Whats a better color that will mix well with the background image??

Guys, please give me some ideas. I would really appreciate it if someone can like photoshoped something on the left for me as inspiration.

Thanks.

if you ask me, the problem isn’t color scheme or layout, it’s lack of content. it’s hard to drive creativity or design when there’s no content.

I design the website using the content, I always ask for some content when im making web pages!

orange color suits well i think.
anyhow, you may try different colors and check for yourself.

[ot] FREE ANTISPYWARE PROGrAMS? NO WAY! This man must be selling crack! heh :P[/ot] Btw, I use Avast so its all good… Anyhow, get some content, colours are decent but, and wtf is that box thing in the middle of that huge picture?

^^i don’t think that footer is ok. free movies and antispyware? come on!:stuck_out_tongue:
i think the background is the problem. maybe change it to something mor professional, that pic looks weird on the site.

it’s an interesting pic but I think theres too much going on for it to be a background. Right away someones eyes are drawn to it rather than the content. I’d change it, changing it and you may find you’re search for a more suitable colour a bit easier

I see you have a background changer on the lower right side…what is the other backs?

nice layout though, uncomplicated nav, like the colours so far…getting there

I think you got something there. What I would like to see if you might use another font such as a serif instead of a pixel font. Try to see if people will read the content whilst looking at the image because what you want to try and do is balance it. Of course images are what people will see first, that is why text is important so they know what the website is really about. Also, in relation to the font, see if it also suits the bottom of the website.

Is it just me or do I see like an uncompleted content box floating around in that large picture towards the upper left hand corner?

no, i see it too. and honestly i’m really tired of everyone and their mom using a box with those little tabs (that are everywhere now) for navigation

Decide who is going to use your site and what content you are going to have on it. From that you can work out how many and what buttons you need to have for the menu. If it is a college site I think you should pay more attention to the usability.
Maybe try using horizontal lines across the piture. For example, you coud have a quite thin white bar across the top or bottom of the picture with a drop down menu on it.
