I believe the French owned most of the Carribean and therefore most of the Sugar Cane production and therefore most of the slaves. :sigh: oh well… The US is always the bad one anyway, so what point is there is portraying facts and real numbers… :sigh: - again…

The article is talking about how some people were wanting the Ole Miss Rebels mascot banned. http://sun-valley.stanford.edu/~hlj/pix/ole_miss.jpg That is the mascot they’re wanting to ban. The picture on the first page i posted was just some stupid picture someone sent to try to show how stupid it was for them to ban the original mascot.
I never meant for this to be an argument about why that picture is racist, because it obviously is. I meant to see what people thought about real mascots like http://sun-valley.stanford.edu/~hlj/pix/ole_miss.jpg or the braves.
Oh in that case, there is nothing wrong with those other mascots on the Stanford page. People will always be offended at something. In my opinion, who cares about 1% of the population who always needs something to gripe about or ruin the fun of others? This is just sports.
It is hard to say wether its racist or just free speech, i mean i spose its ceases to be freedom of thought or speech when your ideals or beliefs directly opose some ones else lifestyle or race to the point where it becomes impossible to live amongst each other.
But even though i am not racist i respect the fact the som people are and although i personally think they have small peanuts for brains it doesnt stop them believeing in what they hold dear.
oh and vash

oh yeah good ol america ! we enslaved the africans/jamacians more than you , THATS CAUSE WE EXISTED LONG BEFORE YOU, and the quakers and religious types who founded USA (the pilgrims) were part of the group who most opposed slavery…Duh…of course europe had more after all USA has only existed (as a recognised country) for a tiny fraction of the time we in europe have.
ALSO no you didnt have to many slaves but you did used to enjoy dressing up in tea towels and burning black people instead on nice american home made crucifixes, or raping the women and even killing little kids…so dont try that man, america has one of the worst racism records IN EXISTENCE.
Ooh - hands ave an Academy Award for Best On-Screen Kiss…err Dramatic Performance
The Caribbeans was settled a short while AFTER the US settlements. The US stopped it’s importation of slaves in the early 1800s. The Europeans continued their acts of slavery under various clever names all around the world.
Also, like I mentioned earlier, not all slaves were treated bad. A few were educated and treated with a decent level of respect. You make it seem like the entire slave population was burned in the US :sigh:

**THATS CAUSE WE EXISTED LONG BEFORE YOU **
OMG! REALLY?! Well the African-Carribean-US slave trade started shortly after the creation of the US so what does existing longer have anything to do with anything in that argument? Also, a small faction of idiots in sheets that go around lynching and burning people should not account for the whole of the country. Yes it happened here, but it happened everywhere.
I never said anything about the US being good, or about our treatment being better, I merely said that the numbers were much higher. Oh, and do some research about the French treatment of slaves on the Sugar Plantations. Nice, warm, cuddly, cups of tea around the fire… right?
I wasn’t trying to start an argument, I just wanted to portray that it wasn’t just the US that was invovled in the Slave Trade. A lot of people lose sight of that… Big Bad America strikes again, ya know? I’m just sick of hearing all this crap about how bad America is when every other Western country has done almost the same exact thing. I mean, I hate my country. I dislike America and everything that it stands for. But some people just don’t understand that if it existed here, then it existed elsewhere, and everyone makes it out as though we started it.
