[/list]
6.Metal Gear Solid 1/2 - PSX/2 - Konami
5.Final Fantasy 7 - PSX - Squaresoft
4.Goldeneye - N64 - Rareware
3.Half-Life (and all MODS, particularly Counter-Strike, the mods really make the game.) - PC (and PS2, but that version blows) - Sierra
2.Diablo 2 (and LOD Expansion) - PC - Blizzard Entertainment
1.StarCraft (and BW Expansion) - PC - Blizzard Entertainment
Final Fantasy 7 may be the best RPG ever, and Metal Gear Solid series was amazing, but the ones above it in the list are there for their replayability.
I quit diablo 2, thank the lord, after many months of waking up early before school to get in those last couple Meph Runs, and staying up past midnight to help rush my buddy to Hell Cow level. Everyone knows that was the drug of all PC games.
I STILL play starcraft. Half-life was my First Person Shooter crack. I played that for a year straight.
Goldeneye. That was a gem. I played that for years, and years, and even now (once every like… 5 months) a friend or myself will suggest it, and we’ll end up with an eight person round robin tourney of goldeneye. It’s rediculous how good that game was.
Blizzard is the master of addiction, will be my final statement.
ALL of those games should be played, if you haven’t played them.
Elder Scrolls III and Devil May Cry are fantastic games too. Play those. NOT devil may cry 2. ONLY Devil May Cry 1, no matter how bad the story, it IS better than the second.
Id just like to just add one more thing… I have never felt more joy, confusion nor pleasurable mental discomfort than I have in Touch Fuzzy, get dizzy in Yoshis Island. Trippy (litterally).
That game also had the BEST_VIDEOGAME_COMMERCIAL_EVER with a fat guy eating at a resturant and then exploding (representative of the scaling techniques used in the game).
I know how you feel about diablo 2 aislin. I played that game religiously for about 2 years. Its amazing the joy you can get when some monster drops a few bits of data that is unique or rare. Two summers ago I played at LEAST 12 hours per day. I got a druid up to level 89 in solo halls of the dead runs. It took forever. But now its better, only takes a few days to do that :).
Isnt it crazy - you get your list done, and then somone else posts something you wish you put on your list
I would like to add
Super Mario Kart-Super Nintendo (amazing)
and
All Tony Hawk Games!
Oh yah - and the fact that with all the New Generation of games out the majority of the Favorites are from days gone by, just shows you graphics arent everything!
I like first person shooters. As far as they are concerned, I’ll always be in love with Quake III for it’s online speed and smoothness. HalfLife is a better game, but not online. The best of the best first person shooters that I’ve played though was “Rogue Spear”, a game that requires real thought and skill to get through.
I am however, video game challenged. I’ve not owned a gaming system since 89, and the PC hardly has the range of games for it that those systems do. So alas… I must claim that I am not a good judge of these things and leave it to you guys who are much less ignorant in this area.
