Created with max 6. Rendered with Mental Ray (55 Minutes, quite long).
Any criticisms and suggestions are welcome!
Ooh, I like it. Smooth 'n Shiny
Looks cool. The right side arm rest height looks higher than the left side. Also the reflection near the armrest looks too white and smudgy (read: not smooth).
Otherwise looks pretty cool.
No it is not higher than the other one. I am sure because I extruded them at the same time.
it’s called perspective :P:P
but anyway, it’s looks pretty cool, but how could this have taken you 55 minutes to render? and uhmmm i would never sit in a chair who looks that hard and actually painfull to site on ![]()
Did you mean perception?? Perspective is :* The technique of representing three-dimensional objects and depth relationships on a two-dimensional surface.* Now perception is one persons view of it. It appears to me that the right arm-rest the curves upward is higher than the left, higher as in height not distance (perspective) in relation to each other since they are supposed to be identical except for mirrored.
Also, I’m not ripping on it because I think it looks cool but he did ask for comments/critisism also.
oh, i wasn’t trying to offend you or anything, but uhmm i still think it’s because of the perspective that he used that the one armrest seems larger then the other. it’s your perception of it wich is because of the perspective he used (sorry for my english, it suks, but i hope you understand)
please note that i was never trying to offend you it was just what came to my mind.
No he means perspecitve - exactly how you defined it. It’s a 3D looking object on a 2D surface (your monitor). And I think it looks quite comfy. Its amazing how something with the right curves can feel good on your body, even though the material does not seem intuitively comfortable.
Nice work Dog-E :thumb:
Yes, and probably another reason that it seems higher is because, the inner side of the arm is more rounded while the outer side is more flat.
Thanks for the comments.
Yes it took 55 minutes to render. 1 skylight, Global Illumination and Final Gather is enabled to achive soft shadows, reflective material applied and pentium 4 1.4 ghz with 128 mb sdram
It is quite normal.
did you use a big photon map? i still think it’s a bit much, but it does look very nice!
Ok, I will give you the settings that I modified from the default for Mental Ray.
Samples Per Pixel
Min:4 , Max:6
Indirect Illumination
Global Illumination: Enabled , Photons: 500
Volume Samples: 100
Final Gather: Enabled , Samples: 3000 , Radius Max>4 Min>0.4
okok 55 minutes seems reasoneble condering your system specs! altho you could ahev achieved the same render as this with brazil in less time
but thats just me defending my beloved brazil!
Hehe. I am thinking of moving to Vray.
