I just read an article today in my paper that discussed the possibility of the draft being reinstated. Once/if it comes into fruition, they could start drafting people as soon as July 2005. They’d start with the 20-year olds, up to 25, then drop down to 18 and 19 year olds. Says they’re gonna use a lottery to determine who gets placed where based on the 365 days of the year (corresponding to your birthday). The bill is also trying to make the draft hard to dodge. You can’t go to Canada because of border peace agreements or something, and college students will get drafted as soon as their current term (semester) is up.

Also, things will be dying down in Iraq with the talks at the UN of turning full governmental control back to the people.
