Convert me to apple

Thinking about getting a 15" PowerBookG4 for uni (which i start in 6months). I use iMovie at school so i’m familiar with apples but this will be my first apple purchase. I’m looking for someone to help my pros/cons:

Pros:

 1. Apples are aesthetically superior to pc’s in every way (i.e. they’re f-ing gorgeous!)
 2. PowerBooks have built in wireless support.
 3. I’ve only crashed an Apple once in the last 6months.
 4. As far as i know, theres no need for virus/spyware scanning software on apples.

Cons:
1. I can get a technically equal pc for atleast £200 (about $350) less.
2. Almost any laptop i buy now will have an Intel Centrino for wireless.
3. I have absolutely no confidence in being able to rip/burn dvds on apples.
4. I’m worried that my webdesign will be affected.
5. Because a PowerBook is equal to most laptops (whilst costing more) i think waiting for the next gen of Apple laptops might be a good idea. However, i have no idea when that will happen.

I was also considering switching from my trusty Creative Muvo mp3 player to the latest 30GB iPod but was scared away by the HUGE lack of video support. Any ideas when the next gen of iPod will emmerge, and if it will have a wider video extension acceptance?

I’m just looking for some words of wisdom from people who have recently switched to Apple or run both Apples and pcs, cause i’m teetering on the edge and one more pro or con could push me in either direction.
