Tech companies just started dropping massive data centers wherever they could get land cheap, and now that locals see the power draw and cooling costs, they’re like ‘wait, this is OUR problem to solve?’ Half a year from 300 to 500 bans isn’t NIMBY awakening, it’s communities doing the math.
The energy part is real. If you’re in a place with grid constraints, a 7 GW data center isn’t just abstract computing power.
