Drawing Interfaces

Would it be better to draw a website interface in Photoshop and import it into flash or to just draw it in flash; and in flash are there any shortcuts for drawing. In Photoshop how you can rotate the canvas and line up whatever you draw is there a way to do it flash? Because it seems as if my lines turn out crooked when I try to use the free transform tool and copy and paste the content that I drew.[FONT=times new roman]

Hold down the shift while your free transforming in photoshop, that will do it in incriments of…45 degree’s (i think) but, it will keep your lines straight. and…I prefer photoshop b/c i can’t design worth crap in flash. But…its really your preference. some people can do wonders w/ design in flash…i’m just not one of them. I like my photoshop

I usually start out with an outline of a interface in Illustrator, then bring that outline into photoshop, apply the effects and then bring it into flash.

I would recommend PS. I got a problem right now with importing stuff into flash, everything is getting blurry. And when I turn of smoothing it all looks even worse…
I imported with a gif. Should i try it in png or something like that ?

I usually import stuff in from PS as a PNG or JPG.

dumb dumb dumb. Now I know why it always looked so awful, because it was always zoomed!!!
Jeah, now I can checkout Flash ;p

what you may do is draw your draft in PS, import it to flash and make the interface out of that, as you would do line art with a pencil-drawn picture

if you’re referring to an interface in terms of the layout and navigation etc (i.e not including pictures) i think it’s probably more efficient to do it straight into flash.

remember snap to grid can be used to keep stuff lined up…

i guess illustrator probably works well too coz you can export as .fla (i think) but in my opinion PS isn’t really as useful, unless a large part of your interface revolves around pictures

overall it’s probably worth spending time learning the flash system of drawing and stuff, because you’ll be using it a fair bit (unless you just keep importing everything :P)

Thanx everybody…I can’t seem to draw in flash…only in PS. should I worry about the difference between the programs; i.e. vectors and rasters

Yes, that’s one concern you should keep in mind so plan things out. Whatever you create in PS must stay the exact size it was created. If you bring it into flash and decide to scale it up then it’s going to get pixelated. You may scale it down, but I would not recommend that either since it may not look right.

Really important words that electron said there ;p
