Dreampod.com **advice**

<a href=“http://www.dreampod.com”> </a>

Planning to do some freelance and e-commerce. Need some criticism. Menus and movie clips might look familiar because I got them from flashkit.

Thanks in advance for the help.

That looks cool. hoping the clouds move:slight_smile:

Here are the things I noticed:

  1. My first advice would be to create your own stuff instead of pulling them off flashkit because chances are, others will be using the same things you have.

  2. Work on the way you create layouts, your current layout is a bit over sized. It’s too horizontally stressed that even I have to scroll to the right to see some of your content. I’m on a 1024x768 resolution and I think that’s the same resolution you’re working on as well or maybe higher. You should determine a target resolution(s) and build your site based on those targets.

  3. As for style or design, I don’t really see much of a problem there. The only thing I can say is that make your work cleaner. The cloud animation above doesn’t look too clean because I can see jagged edges where you clipped the image and you probably stretched it as well. I notice a lot of your graphics are poor quality so remember to work on those.

i agree on the horizontal scrolling part, and what i thinks is supposed to be a portfolio button doesn’t have any text on it. the site looks nice, but needs a little more work.

under what conditions do you not see the portfolio button text? rollover? rollout? Is it just not there? Does anyone else get the problem?

Ok I changed the table width to be 100% unstead of 120. I always like more room than not enough. But if it’s too distracting it’s not worth it. However, the portfolio page still stretches because the right side is a flash that I don’t want to chop off on higher resolutions.

Working on the image quality I guess I’ll drop 29.95 into the 1mb picture =/

now i see it, and the vertical scrolling looks better. try using css to change the colors on the scrollbar, cause the standard windows ones are just ugly.

one thing i noticed is maybe a preloader for the nav… i almost closed the site right b4 it loaded… looks nice though…
