Ever Been Called About Your Site?

I just got some random guy calling me about my site, but I couldn’t understand a word he said. He was trying to do some promotional thing for me, but the only words I heard from him were…

Hi, is this Jeff?

eh, I don’t want to design, we do promotional work

And of that, I could barely understand it.

My dad told me the same guy had called me in the past wanting to talk to me, but I had been gone when he called.

I think I’m gonna pay for my info to be taken off the whois data. I don’t play well with people calling me on the phone.

Wierd. Yea probably wanted to cover your site with ads or something lol. (eww ads).

It was from Topeka, Kansas, I think.

Oh, and about ads; I think I may use this:

Nope, never been called, but I get stuff in the mail all the time

lol

I have been called from Media Temple once (which really amazed and surprised me, it was only for a support ticket and they CALLED me to notify that it has been resolved). But other than that, no :frowning:

that’s called good service, MTsoul. and it’s good you got a call like that, because you pay them…

I wouldn’t like a call from my host. I’d rather an email. I hate phones.

I got a call once from a design/marketing company. They were trying to get me 2 pay them 2 do a site for a url I owned that I never did anything with.

wait… so they wanted YOU to pay THEM to design a site for them…

They wanted me to pay for them to drive traffic to my site…

oh i was talkin to that rawnewdlz guy :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s nice to think that someone is randomly interested in your site.

I quite like strange phone calls, you can always hang up

never been called for my site, but some guys call me for photoshop tutorials:(

same here  I have no problem talking to people face-to-face, or write emails, but not phone. I even have a hard time talking to my friends on the phone :+)

Actually funny story, I got a call from a design company interested in my services not long ago. And strange thing was I had taken my old site off the web a long time before that(due to my embarrassing old school flash site attempt :sigh:).

So I was weird to hear her say that she had looked at your site and really liked my style, i was like thanks but i dont actually have my site up anymore, she then explained that she visted my home page soultydesign.com and then she saw the coming soon splash so she google my name (i assume ‘soultydesign’) and she came up with my old site on a old isp webspace i had been using years ago, haha

i laughed when she told me, i go to her thats pretty sneaky and she laughed.

In the end I couldn’t accept the job due to too much on at the current time but mentioned to her to email me her details so we can keep in touch

:: actually and another weird thing is that i can’t seem to find my old address via google now…

edit:: haha, found it!, a blast from the past!

weird story, my old website (which was flash but not great) got me a job one time, and I don’t mean an interview but an actual job

recruitment company called me up and asked if I’d be interested being a contract developer for Sky TV. I said sure

an hour later they called me back and said “Fine, you start tomorrow”. I asked how about an interview they said they’d seen my site and decided an interview wasn’t necessary. Hired on the spot.

I was there almost 5 months on contract, good job :thumb:

LMAO
I just whois your site  expect some Mac sucks phone calls

Am I the only one who thinks having a fake phone # in your whois is a good idea?

I wish I was that good when I first started.
