Hey everyone,
Well Findal, the one whose entry (http://www.fndzinz.com/) was disqualifed last week because of not containing enough Flash, has sent me this response:
<FONT face=“Times New Roman” size=3>Aw man…
Gggs, thats not what I thought you were gonna say.
I ask you to please reconsider , as if it’s 50%, In really thought I beat
that and the 80% mark too. I use flash on the main page, right up to the
logo and in the menus; YES, which are repeated on every page in the html.
BUT, while there are 8 linked pages that are just plain html while using all
those FLASH menus, there are 15 FLASH Example SWF pages, 4 FLASH photo
Albums, one of which has over 400 pix, and there are 6 other FLASH examples
under the heading ‘projects’. The creel survey and Display can be added to
the list as more FLASH too. I assume that it’s evident that the 2 news
displays on main page are flash, as is the weather display.
Just as a bit of info what this sites stats are too
Which shows that I serve up a majority of …swf
File Type Report
File Type Requests % Bytes
.swf 23807 18.446% 47.621 47.621%
.jpg 24719 19.153% 24.425 24.425%
.MOV 52 0.040% 9.935 9.935%
.php 18214 14.113% 4.633 4.633%

.mp3 27 0.021% 2.737 2.737%

.html 5211 4.038% 1.513 1.513%

.css 13596 10.535% 0.390 0.390%
[not listed: 5] 3824 2.963% 0.153 0.153%
For the majority of instances, FLASH uses the php, xml,mp3,text, css and the
.jpg as content feeds.
Any way, I know you gotta make a call, but after all the times I got heck
for “So Much Flash” in my sites, its a bit ironic to hear its not enough.
<SCRIPT><!–D([“mb”,“Especially
when there is way more time to spend looking at FLASH on my site
than other
things. I try to incorperate it in different ways, replacing php
or html
script output in a more graphical manner.
I'm just a guy trying to pimp my
site and stretch my portfolio and maybe get
a job.
Thanks for
reconsidering and letting me know .

I still don’t see how using one giant Flash form makes the site any more Flash-based. Even using a Flash menu, most of his site is still HTML.
:sigh:
