I’ve been learning Flash over the past couple of months, and I completed most of the work on my site. I still have a couple of sections to work on, namely the Portfolio section but I’d love to hear what Flash pros think of it.
I went for a clean, smooth look to the site. I also plan on adding a bit more ambient music to complete the experience. I would like to make more use of ActionScript to do some of the motion, but I have yet to find a good tutorial that will explain how to use loops to create natural motion-where things has noticable acceleration and deceleration properties.
Any suggestions are welcome and greatly appeciated!
You just have to fix the font on the main page with the news to match the rest of the site (may have to embed the font), and on the portfolio page you have, you’ll want to make the background for the text a little darker, cause as it is now, it’s hard to see … ok, **** near impossible to see.
I like the transition, and the option to turn the music off. I like it, but some others might not.
Just check over the fonts to make sure they’re all the same, embeded where needed, and some minor tweaks, it’s a nice site. I like the ‘slim’ design, it’s smooth, not junky, but still flashy.
Your Splash page, or your enter page whatever you call it, is made from flash, so what happens if a visitor doesnt have the flash plugin? Will they just see a white box? It just a minor thing.
Like the other guy said, add a background to the text in the portfolio section. And then your soted, nice job!
Is there a pre-loader on the site (at the beginning)? The font is awful, I’d make the pre-loader look a little cooler as well it just looks too plain. Hide the music panel, maybe make a button where when you press the panel pops up or something. I also found that your pre-loaders took a long time to appear.
Develop it a little more and you’ve got a great little site.

EDIT 3: ok… working now. yes, gotta agree with k02n on the splash page issue - there’s no point having a flash page made out of flash… defeats the entire point…
the site loads pretty slowly considering it’s fairly simple, and the frame rate seems really low - the background transitions are really choppy.
I reckon there’s no need for a volume bar or anything like that either. just have a really small box for music ‘on’ and ‘off’ and make it a bit more discreet than the sound controls that exist at the moment.
gah… I’m typing this as one of the pages loads… the loading is so slow considering most of the pages are just text - and it seems to be that the preloader takes a while to appear… or is that just me?
Anyway, apart from the backgrounds, there are some nice transitions and the music is cool. just a few niggling issues that need to be ironed out - good work! :thumb:
