I’ve never really had ripping in the past… but I have this time around. I run www.bigbrotherlink.com … and it’s pretty popular (if I do say so myself) anyways… There is this other site (I don’t want to post it) but it looks like he is constently ripping off me… really simple things too. Like my header graphic had this circular cutout thing at the bottom… and then a couple of weeks later, his was the same way.
And also, I was in contact with him … and was thinking about having a “premiere party” type deal. Then last week he cancels on me and says he cant do it. I go to his site, and hes doing it… and called it the premiere party!!!
and on his menu, it was just link after link on the left… and I changed my layout… and it had a 3d type look to my buttons… and now I go to his site… and hes got the same kind of thing happening.
The only reason it gets on my nerves is beause he gets a TON more hits then me… and I have been doing this longer then he has.
If you don’t have a lawyer to speak for you, a lot of times simply emailing and requesting the design to be removed is sufficient. Most rippers think they won’t get caught or that they didn’t do anything wrong. I know this from bad experience, a friendly request should always be your first step. 9/10 it works. :kommie:
Ok… maybe I’m using the wrong words… he didnt RIP me (i.e. copy and paste) but he took the IDEA of mine, and put it on his… which I consider ripping it? maybe? I dunno. proof below
ok, see attachments.
as well as that, I contacted him about a premiere party, and he was ready to do it… and then at the last moment, he canceled it… and now he is doing it with another site… and using the same name “Premiere Party” that I came up with.
hmm…I can see why you would think he “ripped” your ideas, but there’s just not enough there IMO to even say anything to him. Sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet, knowing your work inspired someone else’s, and move on. Sorry mate, I know it sucks.
