I have finished my second website and agree that it is very poor quality, I would still like comments. I am only a beginner but I ask for your fiercest criticism.
Things I already know about and will save you time in writting to tell me:
I need more photo graphics
The button thing is odd, I can’t resolve this
It doesn’t reach down to the bottom of the screen, I am unable to sort this out. Many posts on forums have been unable to help. This is unfixable.
I know it’s crap but any comments would be good, if you can be arsed, that is.
First - theres no point having an intro when it only last 4 - 5seconds unless the intro contains stunning visual animkations or vital information your trying to get over to the user. Your site has no transitions and therefore makes the site look ‘jagged’.
My advice for the buttons would be to break it down and start again and check and cjeck again that your actionscript and tweening are correct as you go along.
I’m viewing your site and it seems to stretch to the bottom of the screen. If you think it isn’t all you need to do is creat a table in DW and set its width to that of your movie and height to 100%.
Not bad, I would definitely make that background repeat so it looks like a thick line going down the middle of the browser. Music gets a little boring after awhile, and you can hear the break in it. I agree, either don’t give an option to “skip the intro” or just remove the intro all together… it isnt long enough to even be considered an intro. keep at it!:thumb:
Other than that ideas you’ve already mentioned, I can’t really think of anything much to say. I like your color scheme, it’s pleasant on the eyes, and makes reading very easy. I agree that your intro is short with no information or purpose. I don’t see a reason for having a little logo thing bouncing around for 2 seconds and calling it an intro. I personally hate intros because they’re just a waste of my time. I always skip them whenever I can.
The band wanted a short intro - a sort of door into the site. I’m not sure why I have the bouncy ball thing but I am redoing the whole site as a major project in the new year and intend to spend a couple of months trying to make the new one a fairly good flash site but I am not a trained graphic designer. I must say though that the site has recieved good comments to say that I only spent about 3 days on it all in all. Thanks again for the comments.
