Microsoft gets bigger

Ok it’s not like Microsoft don’t own every thing already now they have anti-virus software on the way

http://wired.com/news/technology/0,1282,59196,00.html

what do you think about this and Microsoft:)

even though they are coming out with this i doubt i’ll ever use it. the program will always be filled with bugs that hackers and such will exploit to drop their trojans and other virii, it will probably cost money, and c) it’s microsoft. I barely trust windows on my PC, how can i trust them protecting it?

lol

you just no windows is send them info

but what you going to do:sigh:

I’ll still stick with Norton Antivirus UNLESS the MS product is far superior in every way to my current av solution. As for the personal information MS collects, I don’t really mind - I have nothing of great importance that MS would really want installed on my computer.

Cheers!

Read Michael Lewis’ excellent ‘The New New Thing’ for an account of Jim Clarke’s founding of Silicon Graphics, Netscape, and Healtheon which later became Web MD under Microsoft pressure. All billion dollar companies.

It’s a great book but reading it makes you aware that Microsodt will ultimately take over every profitable area of software manufacture.

I just worry that the X-Box will do the same thing for computers - you just wait. An X-Box in every home is the hard part. Once established they will break out the windows operating platform and the keyboard periferal and hey presto 100% Microsoft Hardware and Software.

By 2050 they’ll be making washing machines.

lol, I was thinking more like 2025… but yeah, somewhere in that neighborhood…

Kirupa, check out AVG, its really good (much better than Norton)…

I use The free AVG program “anti Virus” its very good and is safe.

Microsoft is growing up fast but everything that gos up must go down. maybe Microsoft will someday, but I hope not.

Nice… Ahhh well… I don’t really trust Microsoft Outlook to be all the way patched up. As a company standard we use VShield.

Cheers!

I read something similar in Jim Clark’s own book called Netscape Time. Microsoft is very unique in that it successfully gnaws its way into existing businesses by emulating another company’s success.

EDIT: Jubba, I’ll give AVG a shot sometime =)

Cheers!

Netscape… theres a joke:thumb:

for EVERYONE using NETSCAPE

READ THIS

NOW:smirk:

and i would love a Microsoft washing machine, you would have to add patchs to it all the time and upgrade every year;)

mmff i use netscape because the mail app is MUCH MUCH better than outlook… other than that i like when favicons are placed automatically - which means you dont have to bkmk the page…

although im currently using IE i switch to both cos each have their little bugs -

i dont trust microsoft - wish to keep the further away to them as possible - but it’s true BG has got the whole soft market in his hand…

and people will hack into your laundry too, probably :stuck_out_tongue:

lol

you open your door and it’s wiped your washing, theres nothing there:crazy:

you’d put in 2 blue socks and you’d get a red sock and a white sock back…

either that or you have to go then out then come back in the room for it to work ok:beam:
