Movie - Food, Inc

I had been putting off watching this movie, even though I heard it was really good, because the idea is nothing new to me. Most people already know about local farmers vs big corporations, chemicals vs organic, and quality vs mass production. So why sit there for an hour and a half to watch something that you already know?

There’s a difference between knowing something, and actually seeing it. The movie does a great job of not preaching to us what everyone basically knows already, but instead bringing all of the ideas and facts together into a compelling story, in a way that makes you really understand the importance of the situation. And it actually shows you exactly what’s going on, through footage of farms, and interviews with people at the center of the issue.

We’ve all been to the store, and known in the back of our heads that this cheap food we’re buying is full of chemicals and made by corporations and it’s pure evil, blah blah blah. But that knowledge has no real substance to it, because just knowing it isn’t compelling enough to actually do anything about it.

So do yourself a favor, and give the movie a shot. It’s on Netflix ‘Watch Instantly’, so if you have Netflix there’s no reason not to. You’ll learn something, and you’ll look at food differently. T’is very good.
