Cyrix,
When I meant general welfare, I wasn’t referring to the social welfare system =) I was referring to the general contentment and happiness of the people. Yeah, social security and welfare are a few issues that need severe restructuring in the US.
I think that if the education system is rewritten/restructured from the ground up, most of the problems we face will definitely be solved. Pinx/RB, college-level subjects are always better than the regular classes in HS because the students in college are more eager to learn and open to new ideas. Besides, high schools are bogged down with political correctness to a point where facts are being skewed or omitted in order to “not offend” any student.
Some facts need to be stated - those offended should ensure that something like that doesn’t happen again.
I would say, they where WRONG, but they had no choice.
Question is to broad to be answered right away…
But more likley than not, it is wrong, and shouldnt be done.
People have no right to kill other people.
ex: We can kill Bill Gates, and give out his fortune over impovriched Africa, millions will be saved but no one has the right to take away another life.
What proof is there that my hypothetical above displayed “wrong” actions being taken. I’m not saying you’re incorrect… I’m just looking for some discussion of the real issue. Why is it that people don’t have the right to kill other people. (Ten commandments are not a justifiable excuse since there too little proof of their existance being a directive from any higher power.)
In your example Bill Gate’s continued existance has only the most cursory effect on the suffering of others. I suppose that case does fit my hypothetical, but it is hardly in the flavor of what I was suggesting. So yes, it’s too broad right now, as questions go, I wished to leave it so to explore both sides of the arguement.
…but you’ve just narrowed it down, and in the case you gave, I would agree that it would be wrong to do that.
