Hey guys! I have a meeting coming up this Wednesday to meet with the CEO of a small, local waste disposal company. The company is called Wide World, and they used to be the former employer to my older brother before he quit to take an animation job. Anyways, since they were all pretty close, my brother went to visit them one day, and the CEO told him;
“Hey! I’ve been meaning to get a hold of your brother to redo our website!”
So pretty much, I’ll be redesigning thier website for them and maybe adding a few more sections and maybe a contact form to their site. My dillema is that I have no idea how to conduct this meeting! For instance;
How do I start off the meeting?
What should I price hourly? I was thinking 35 an hour and giving them 20% off because they helped my brother out when he was in need of employment. ( http://asi.fullerton.edu is the site that I designed, built and maintain 100 percent by myself at my current job, so maybe looking at that site will give you guys a good estimate of what I can charge )
If I do work hourly, what exactly do I do to assure them that I won’t milk my hours? And how am I supposed to log my hours or what? I had the idea of saying something like, “I normally charge 35 dollars an hour, but since you helped my brother out and are helping me out too, I’ll do the job for 20% off, 28 dollars an hour. The website will take me an estimated 20-25 hours to complete, but defintely no more than 25. And I can have it done by this date _____.”
Someone please help me out on how to handle that?
And a few more things, I have that contract that was posted on this website and I want to use that to give to them. When should I propose the contract to them?
I know a lot of you may think that it sounds like I’m not ready for this freelance field yet, but I’ve been web designing/developing for years and it’s currently what I do for my part time stable job at my college. It’s just that I have never had an actual freelance client before and I think that if I can handle this one the best way I possibly can, then it will open to many doors for me in the future. Anyways, sorry for the long post, but please help guys! I’ll be very appretiative!
Thank you!
